Harry was standing at the top of the Astronomy Tower, gazing at the stars contemplating his life so far. As he was mulling over his thoughts Draco Malfoy came up behind him. Malfoy was currently thinking up ways to annoy Potter and take even more points besides being out after curfew.
"Hello Malfoy" Harry said shocking Draco out of his thoughts.
"Potter" Draco replied mockingly "Out after hours are we, and what may I ask would the 'Great Harry Potter' be doing out here" Motioning to the sides of the Tower.
"Thinking" Harry replied scathingly "Now why don't you take your slimy ambitious self else where"
"Now why in the world would I do that?" Draco mocked "I was enjoying the view and unlike you I have a right to be out after curfew. So unless you want me to take even more points for back-talking a perfect, what were you doing out here?"
"I told you I was thinking" Harry replied in a tight voice.
"Thinking about what Scar-head?" Draco inquired.
"Thinking about how much I hate Slytherins for their ambitions" Harry stated without reservation.
"Get real Potter. You hate us for our ambitions. Not because we are evil or anything" Draco said sarcastically.
"And that's where your wrong Malfoy" Harry stated. "It has nothing to do with wrong or right, good or evil."
"All Ambitions are lawful except those which climb upward on the miseries or credulities of Mankind"
"That's what Voldermort does, along with most Slytherins I have met. It's the reason my life is the way it is. Other people's ambitions."
"No Potter Slytherins and the DARK LORD uses our world's faults and seeks to correct them. It's the Slytherin way. Though I will concede that the Dark Lord's ambitions did ruin your life." Draco pointed out
Harry tilted his head in acknowledgement of the point. "However.."
'I had ambition
By which sin
The angels fell;
I climbed and, step by step, O Lord,
Ascended into Hell'
"Do you really believe that muggle tripe about Heaven and Hell, if so then you definitely need professional help" Draco said incredulously.
Harry shakes his head. "You are completely missing the point Malfoy."
"Really, do enlighten me then." Draco drawled
"Voldermort by building his ambitions off of mankind's faults has turned the Wizarding World into a state of chaos or in my case a living hell." Harry pointed out. "If he had corrected what he believed the faults of the Wizarding World through other methods I might have considered joining him. Though I suppose that in a sick, twisted way he does have a method to his madness."
"So your saying that if the Dark Lord had gone about this differently you would have actually joined him?!" Draco said in disbelief. Harry tilted his head in thought.
"Yes, yes I most likely would have" he said after a long pause. "But we will never know for sure"
"Potter if this is how you really thinkā¦."Draco trailed off unsure if he should finish.
"Yes Malfoy?" Harry said sharply.
"Its Draco" Draco said absentmindedly. "And I think he are all doomed" he stated jokingly.
Harry laughed as he said"'The Savior came. With trembling lips
He counted Europe's battleships.
"Yet millions lack their daily bread.
So much for Calvary" he said'
Harry then proceeded to walk back to the Gryffindor common room smirking. Leaving Draco contemplating all that he had been told. Forgetting that he had not even taken points.
