Across the Desert Sands
Every day a new beginning,
As over Aranoch we tread.
Withstanding monsters, bandits sinning,
While battling my sense of dread.
…
Oh to return, to be back home,
Always from turning, I refrain.
Deckard's loss I still bemoan,
Still rends my heart, still causes pain.
…
Allies travel by my side.
My friends? I yet cannot say.
But very little we confide,
Silence at night, and in the day.
…
So what troubles do I forecast,
When at Caldeum we behold?
This heart, don't know if I can last,
Under sun, upon sand gold.
…
And all the while, feel writing,
A nameless terror in my breast.
Nameless fear stops me confiding,
Lies are told in quiet jest.
…
At Lut Gholein we view the sea,
Across which lies dry Kehjistan.
A darkness still lurks within me,
But say nothing, follow the plan.
…
So across the desert sands we've walked,
And across the sea we shall all sail.
My shadow all the while stalks,
I face the east, face burnt but pale.
…
For another trod this path,
One who walked to his damnation.
Sense of fear I must outlast,
While I pray for my own salvation.
