A rabid plot bunny attacked me xD;;; Please, don't take this seriously... even though I would be interested in seeing where someone with more skill could take this rabid bunny. I blame blackdragon-san for this, actually - the bunny was spawned by the line "Ever heard of Uchiha Itachi? Boy, did that frood know where his kunai was." in his/her fic, Encyclopedia Ninja, and that line is modified from a line in The HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (wonderful work it is, too). Hence, this. Please enjoy. xD; (The original line, for those who haven't read the Guide, is "Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is.")

Timeline note - this takes place right about when Sasuke does the whole "walk in on Itachi after he killed their parents" thing. (And waaah my notes/disclaimer are longer than my drabble. That's sad. I need to learn how to NOT ramble...)

Disclaimer:

Naruto is the wonderful brainchild of Masashi Kishimoto-sama, and HitchHiker's Guide is the result of Douglas Adams' inimitable talents. I, obviously, am neither Masashi Kishimoto nor Douglas Adams, being as I am neither male, nor Japanese, nor English.. and most certainly not dead, God rest Mr. Adams' soul. Thusly, I don't own any of this.

Don't Panic

"Here." Itachi shoved something at Sasuke.

"Eh?"

"Read the cover."

Sasuke blinked. He looked down and read the cover. He blinked again. Finally, he looked up.. only to see Itachi walking away, whistling a cheerful tune. Which, it must be noted, was really quite incongruous, considering the circumstances.

Later, Sasuke would wonder why, of all the things he could have, and likely should have, focused on, the one thing that drew his attention the most was the cloth draped over Itachi's arm as he walked away. The reason is speculated to have been the teddy bear pattern the cloth bore. ...Is that a towel..?

The ANBU showed up about fifteen minutes after Itachi waltzed out, cheerful tune and teddy bear-patterned towel and all, to see Sasuke staring rather blankly at a black, rectangular shape in his hands. The rectangle had some sort of glossy cover on it that bore the words, "Don't Panic" in large, friendly letters. (Sasuke would come to the conclusion that it was the best advice he'd ever gotten.)

For several days afterwards, if anyone asked him anything, Sasuke would reply, "Was that a towel..?"

Yes, short and pretty stupid. Yes, Sasuke now owns a genuine copy of the Hitchhiker's Guide. Read the Guide if you want to know the significance of the towel. As for the pattern.. well... That's just my odd sense of humor xD;;

Please read and review, onegai shimasu minna-sama! (This is the first fic I've posted in a year and four months! I'm working on a Harry Potter/ Hitchhiker's Guide cross.. though who knows when I'll finish it.)
