"You stay home this morning. I'll call Sookie and tell her you'll be late." Luke tells Lorelai as her looks at her and runs his fingers in her hair. Lorelai tries to hold back her tears. "He's gonna be okay." Luke says, talking about Paul Anka. Lorelai nods "I hope so." She says with a sob in her voice. Luke's arm comes around her and he leans in and gently kisses her head, right next to her eyebrow. After a couple seconds, he pulls away and says; "Everything's gonna be okay." Lorelai gives him a small nod while looking at Paul Anka. Luke keeps his arm behind her and Lorelai rests her head on a small pink pillow. They stare at Paul Anka in silence and after about a minute, Luke gets up. "I'll be right back." He tells her.
He returns ten minutes later to find Lorelai almost asleep. "I called Sookie, she said you can take the day off. You should probably go to bed, get some sleep. I'll watch Paul Anka if you want me to." Lorelai opens her eyes, looks at him, nods and whispers "Thank you." Luke walks over to her and holds out his hand. She takes it and he pulls her up. She glances at Paul Anka. He looks at her and sees tears in her eyes. "Lorelai." He whispers. She looks at him. "Are you okay?" He asks. She shakes her head. "It's not Paul Anka, its Rory. I miss her so much and I just… want her to come home." She sobs. "Come here." Luke whispers and he reaches out and wraps an arm around her waist and pulls her into his embrace. She lets him hold her. She lowers her head and presses her face into his chest. A couple of sobs escape her and he holds her tighter and rubs her back. "Shh… it'll be alright." He tries to soothe her with his words. He feels her tears wet his shirt. "I love you, Lorelai. I'll always be here. And Rory, she'll come home soon, I know she will. She loves you too." Lorelai stays in his arms for another minute then pulls away. "Luke, thank you. I love you too." She gives him a small smile. "Come on, let's get you to bed." He says. She lets him lead her upstairs. He watches her get in the bed and lay down. Once she's comfortable, he turns to leave but she calls out to him. "Luke, can you stay... until I fall asleep?" He turns back to her and walks to the bed. "Sure, I'll stay as long as you need me to." He gets in the bed next to her and she moves so that she's snuggled up close to him. His wraps his arm around her waist and she closes her eyes and relaxes, feeling comfortable next to him.
