I have no shame in this piece. It totally didn't come out the way I thought it would, but I'm bored, so this is it. I've been listening to music all day and I got to a song called, "Marry Your Daughter" by Brian McKnight and I thought of Castle. Just plain fluff. Established Caskett relationship. No spoilers.
Enjoy and leave a review!
"Sir, I'm a bit nervous about being here today," he started, looking across the table at the older man sitting back again the burgundy booth.
"Rick, how many times do I have to tell you to call me Jim?" Jim Beckett smiled back easily, his eyes dancing in amusement as he watched the younger man wring his hands on top of the table.
Castle gulped, and looked around the diner at the few people that were scattered around, talking about nothing and everything. His eyes snapped back to his girlfriend's father when he spoke up again, "So, son. What did you want to talk to me about today?"
"H-how did you know I was going to ask you anything?"
Jim chuckled and shook his head. "Son, there's only one thing that could make you this jittery and at a loss for words, and that's my Katie. Now, I'll ask you again. What'd you need to talk to me about?"
"Please bear with me now if I take too much of your time, Jim. I still don't know what I'm going to say," Castle shook his head, reaching down into his pocket with shaking hands, revealing a small, black velvet box. Jim smiled knowingly, but hid it when the younger man looked up at him again.
"Kate is my everything and all that I know is that I want her to be the only woman I love for the rest of my life. I want to give her my best until the day that I die. It would mean the world to me to know that you and I are on the same page about this." His words jumbled out of his mouth, tripping over one another before he took a deep breath, grimacing as he looked up to the man across the table.
Jim didn't let anything show on his face as he lifted his coffee to his lips and took a long sip. "Son, you do know that Katie is going to kill you if she finds out that you asked for permission, right? If my Katie wants to marry you, there's not a single thing that would stop her. Not me, not even you can stop her."
"Is that a yes?"
"Son, I've been waiting for this moment since Katie told me that she arrested an annoying son-of-a-bitch five years ago."
Castle let out a shocked laugh at that. "She told you that?"
"Not in so many words, but you know how Katie is."
Once they were finished and walked out the door of the diner, Castle placed a hand on Jim's shoulder and looked him in the eye.
"Sir, I know that you agreed to it, but I want to just clear up something with you. Since the day that Kate and I met, I've been scared to think of what would happen if she left. Since that first time she brought me into that interrogation room, I knew that one day I'd be saying I do. You don't ever have to worry about me treating her any less than a queen. There's no doubt in my mind that I want to spend the rest of my life, showing her everyday just how much I love her."
Jim smiled and clapped a hand on Castle's neck, looking him in the eye knowingly. "I know you will, son. I know you will."
