"Nami-swan! Your beauty is more radiant everyday! It's almost as blinding as the sun! Oh Nami- swan, and just like the sun, I am afraid to look for long in fear of getting hurt. Oh how you torture me so!" The love crazed cook said. He was on his knew as if proposing, one hand on his heart and the other dramatically placed palm up on his forehead, his heart shaped eyes seemingly popping out of his head.

Nami rolled her eyes at his once again overly done compliments he presented each day. At first she had been flattered, but after hearing the same compliment done to every other girl he had laid his eyes upon that had been a looker like herself, she learned not to take it to heart.

"Shut up already stupid cook! By the way you're drooling so much, should we be concerned whether or not this food is safe?" Zoro said from his corner where he had been previously sleeping.

"Go back to sleep shitty swordsman! The food is just fine!" He then turned back to name while taking both of her slender hands into his quite larger ones.

"Only the best for my Nami-swan!" And his eyes turned back to hearts.

Nami sighed tiredly. There had once been a time where she might have been falling for this doofus. The compliments making her secretly flush on the inside. The way his whole attention had been on her and only her. Well that's what she had thought. But immediately after seeing another pretty girl, he'd be gone. She was left cold and empty as he would compliment this new girl and declare it love at first sight.

Since then she had gone out of her way to make sure she wasn't falling for his tricks. She guesses she couldn't blame him fully, though. It's not like he meant to hurt her, but how could he expect all of her love if she didn't get all of his in return?

She tried not to let it bother her, but she couldn't stop the bitterness that would creep into her heart every time he flew through one unsuspecting girl to another. When the other asked why she was so harsh when she'd hit the cook over the head she'd play it off as annoyance. And they believed her. The idea of the Nami, the cat burglar Nami, loving money Nami, theft Nami, Sneaky Nami, ever being jealous was laughable in their eyes. So she played her cool act in front of them. She wasn't strong like the others and couldn't really contribute in a fight, so to show weakness would be humiliating to her. IF she couldn't be physically strong then she had to be mentally. They say you're only as strong as your weak link, and though it was unspoken, everyone knew Name was that link. She felt determined to do her best not to lag everyone else behind.

And she won't. She'll push aside any other feelings then nakama-ship for Sanji, for anyone. This family she had made with the crew, this home she finally has after such a sad past, she wouldn't let it fall apart because of her measly feelings. She wouldn't let anyone destroy it, even if it meant hurting herself in the process.

So she gently pushed Sanji away. He complied easily and closed his eyes waiting for the slap he knew was bound to come. But she only lightly smacked the back of his head. Her eyes holding hidden fondness deep inside. He opened his own widely in surprise as he stared back into hers. The hearts disappeared and his eyes grew soft with. They stared at each other in silent understanding.

Nami went back to reading her forgotten map and Sanji made his way back to the kitchen. They both had a secretive smile, dancing on their lips. The next day they started the process over and the next again, and so on and so on. And for the moment they were both content.
