The devil was watching him through the rain. The devil, wearing a black Versace coat and oversized shades. Debonair, elegant, as evil loves to present itself. He ran, ran and ran, and knew he was too late as he felt sharp fangs pierce the side of his neck.

She was walking in the rain, a cold bitter rain that chilled the heart and depressed the spirit. She was soaked, rain camouflaging the tears in her eyes. The devil approached her, offering her his arm and umbrella. She smiled, then the smile faded. She ran, ran, and ran, and knew she was too late as she felt fangs pierce the side of her neck.

As he fed, he felt the watchful eyes of another of his kind. He looked up straight into the other's eyes, and smiled in silent greeting. He had never seen the other before, and he had to admit to a certain curiosity to the history of the pale haired being. It was, after all, a rare occasion when the oldest of the vampires encountered one he did not recognize.
"Must we walk forever in the long twilight of the soul then, never to find rest nor relief?" The other's voice was sudden, almost jarring, and sharp with a certain anguish. From the words and tone, he knew that the other must be newly fledged-only they would be so close to their mortality. The smile on his lips turned to contempt, and he looked down at the woman who lay pale and motionless beside his feet.
"Do you regret killing cattle, young one?" He asked, his tone obviously derisive. Looking at the crumpled figure of the man at the other's feet, he continued. "Cattle and sheep, they don't matter and you are a fool to care for them."
The other's eyes flashed and narrowed, most likely at being called the fool. Ah, quicksilver then, flame and ice and nothing in between, shifting moods at a whim. Interesting, and he wondered how else the other would react. "Foolish to allow yourself to be baited so easily, young one. That will get you killed-if you aren't careful."
He saw the slight flush of the other's cheeks and smirked once more. "Come with walk with me, as you obviously have much to learn."
"Why should I, when I neither know you nor trust you?"
Feisty too, he noted with amusement. "Well, well, young one. I am the vampire Vorador and if I had wished you harm, you would not be standing there any more."
The other stood, still as as the night the surrounded them. He shrugged his shoulders and decided to go on his way. The other's non-reaction was starting to bore him, and truly, he had no reason to stay. He could not, however, resist throwing one last barb.
"It would have been polite to tell me your name in return. But no matter, I will know it by and by." He turned and left, and as he walked away, the other spoke.
"My name is Kain."

Author's notes:
1. Might add a second chapter, one where Vorador and Kain discusses... stuff, but not very likely. It depends whether or not people actually want me to. I have a few stuff I mind that I want them to discuss, but if anyone wants them to talk about a particular topic, tell me and I'll consider it.I really wrote this only because I wanted Vorador in a Versace anyway.
2. I suppose I shouldn't say this on an LOK fanfic, but whatever. I absolutely love the LOTR fic "Phrygian Flute" by nrink. It is awesomeness... err... ficified.
