Colors. Shapes. Looks. All those things were unknown to her, always had been and always will be. A vague picture in the back of her mind from when she was just a baby of how the sky was blue and the grass green, but that was it.

Nothing remained and she was constantly reminded when her friends forgot how she was or talked about how something looked and she was left in the dark. She was always left in the dark. Yet….she no longer cared. It was a waste of her time to try and get her friends to remember how she was and how she couldn't just suddenly change for them. She was who she was; nothing more, nothing less.

It was never good enough for them. She was just too different and it showed plain as the day is bright and the night is dark. They were so much larger then her and could crush her to bits if they felt like it, or sell her to a zoo or to a lab for experimentation.

Except…they never did.

They looked after her and gave her the things she needed, one in particular. He, oh he was the one who cared for her the most. He did anything he could to help her or protect her; putting himself in harms way as long as it kept her safe. She could never figure out why he did the things he did for her.

Many had told her that he cared for her deeply, loved her even. And not like a daughter or sister. No, something much more then just a daughter or sister. She had been told that he loved her more then anything else in the world, she just never listened.

Time passed and she felt like she never grew any closer to any of them, well…all except for him. He spent as much time as he could with her; talking, playing in some way, telling her stories, watching TV or movies together, whatever they felt like doing at the moment.

After considering the others words for long periods of time over the past few weeks she decided to confront him, but in a way he would never suspect what she was up to. Still not believing the others at the time she just wanted a small bit of proof and it would help her decide a little bit.

Waiting for just the right moment she approached him as he worked in his store, cleaning and organizing. Hesitating slightly she went up to his side and placed a hand on his fender. The sudden touch of her hand caused him to freeze before he figured out it was her and looked to her. Something told him there was something wrong and he nudged her gently, concerned.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothings wrong. I was just wondering. Do you…ya know….like me?"

Her question startled him but he told her firmly, "Of course I like you. What ever made you think I didn't?" At first she was going to faint when she realized he had misinterpreted what she had asked, but she just smiled at him slightly.

"Never mind dude, I was just thinkin' but something. Don't worry about it."

He was confused and blinked, raising an eye ridge but just went back to work. Giving him a slight wave she turned and headed back to her home at the time, just shaking her head, dismissing the whole suspicion.

Just next door a figure sighed slightly; he knew the truth but he never said anything. He knew it wasn't his place. Looking from the girl to his neighbor he closed his eyes for a moment before heading inside of his dome saying softly, "He loves you Maggie, and you love him. Even if neither of you know it yourselves."
