"It's the best place to be at this time of year," Harry said as he dragged Draco up an endless staircase. The blond boy was grumbling but followed on, keeping his hand firmly in Harry's.

"But Harry," Draco whined with a perfect pout. "We're in the Gryffindor tower. I feel so dirty now."

Harry looked over his shoulder at the blond, rolling his eyes. "I've been to the dungeons loads of times and I haven't been infected yet by whatever disease it is you and Ron – separately, of course - keep on insisting thrives in the two Houses."

"But you're the great Harry Potter, of course you're immune to it," Draco said, injecting a healthy dose of fake-awe in his voice.

Harry rolled his eyes again and retaliated by squeezing the other boy's hand none too gently.

"Hey ow! Harry, you know I'm delicate."

"Delicate my arse," Harry muttered.

A hand suddenly touched Harry's bottom and he yelped in surprise, stopping their journey upward. Harry whirled around, blushing bright red.

"Draco!" the black-haired Gryffindor admonished. Even in the darkness, the blush on his cheeks was still visible.

Draco leered. "What? Nobody's here!"

Harry scowled. "Stop distracting me! We're almost there."

Draco sighed as they continued their climb.

A moment later, "So, I'm distracting then?"

Harry didn't even grace that with an answer.

Finally, they reached the top of the very tall tower. Harry entwined his fingers with Draco again. They stood out on a small balcony and the stretch of night sky was endless before them, dotted with stars.

Draco wrapped his arms around the other boy's waist. As if on cue, fireworks lit up the sky in a dazzling display of color. Cheers were heard inside the castle as they rung in the New Year.

"All right, so you were right about the view," Draco whispered against the side of Harry's neck.

Harry smiled. "Of course."

Draco hummed and pressed his lips against the soft skin, nibbling and licking. Harry giggled.

"Are you trying to distract me?" Harry asked mischievously, looking into Draco's luminous grey eyes.

Draco gave a raunchy wink. "Yes. Come on, let's make our own fireworks."

Their combined laughter was lost in the resounding explosions in the sky.

Happy New Year, everyone!
