A/N Welcome my friends to this glorious Beltane. Joining us in this years celebration are the Gundam Boys and, no need to panic, there will be plenty of the traditional Beltane fruit cake to go around.
Despite the plot *faint coughing* YES the PLOT of this fic, the act of jumping over the tein-eigin is something I do not take lightly and will wait a good few years before I even consider it. All that said and done only one thing remains...

Suddenly the countryside appears a thousand shades of green. The dawn's chorus entices and greets the day; clouds of bluebells cover the woodland floors. Summer; beams of the moon welcome our Lords.
The tale of the year's wheel makes this night the most exciting and sensuous. The youthful and strong take their first bite of the apple of temptation, The Great Rite. Gallant men are led astray by mischievous pixies. It is here, before the tein-eigin that our simple tale of affirmation and passion begins. Every fire in the village has extinguished; all energy focused on the need fire.
"Fire to welcome ancient Gods,
Fire to greet the Sun,
Burning as we make our dance,
Jumping one by one."
Beside his wife, Relena, Heero Yuy fumbled around the fire. Embittered by his disastrous marriage, Beltane was just another custom. Traditionally it was also considered the one day when all marital restraints were lifted and he could love who he wished for one night, what use was that to him? He had no one. His heart broke as his friends, Trowa Barton and Quatre Winner jumped the fire.
"Fire, burn this Beltane night,
Make wishes come alive.
Bring us to a summer bright
Let the Greenwood thrive."
Every villager the old, the young, the healthy and the weak all pranced around the fire clockwise, chanting for happiness and fertility.
"Fire, give us warmth and light
All the summer through,
Burning as we dance,
Jumping two by two"
Chang Wufei and his partner, Duo Maxwell were both grinning stupidly from ear to ear over enthusiastically singing the closing words of the ritual, knowing what pleasures lay ahead. 'Jumping two by two' - their cue- they leapt over the fire in unison.
"Burn this Beltane night,
Make wishes come alive.
Bring us a summer bright
Let the Greenwood thrive."
"Wishes" Heero chortled. "Dreams are for those who believe there can be a better life. True happiness." Still muttering he pushed his way through the blooming couples and children back to his room, alone.
