A/N: Ever wondered what the Jellyfish Incident that Mr. Barkin mentioned in "Stop Team Go" was? Well, here ya go. I guess.
The Jellyfish Incident
Steve Barkin groaned. Of all the times for Mr. Callahan to get sick. And now he was stuck subbing the aquatic biology class. And to make matters worse, they wanted to hold class outside. Outside was not where Barkin liked to teach. He preferred the confines of four walls and desks. Inside there was order. Outside there was chaos. At least it was a nice day. Nothing could really go wrong, or so he thought.
These kids want to have class outside, fine, but they would do it on his terms.
"Okay people," he shouted, "lets pack up and go! You want to have class outside, so move it! Hustle people hustle!"
The students gathered up their things and followed the tough but fair sub/principle/football coach outside. Murmurs were heard among the students as they made their way towards wherever Mr. Barkin was leading them.
Ron turned his head to Kim as they walked. "KP, tell me again why we signed up for aquatic biology this semester?"
Kim turned her head back to Ron. "Because, we both needed the science credit, and I was SO not about to take Entomology."
"Entomology? Kim, that's a school word"
"Bugs, Ron."
"Ooooh! I get it! You have several dozen run ins with several dozen giant cockroaches and suddenly you're afraid of bugs."
"So not the drama Ron," Kim chastised him as they walked outside.
Barkin continued to lead his students to an open field that was still on school grounds, but also by a road way. This way, he could get some practice on his voice, and make his already booming vocal cords even more booming.
On the roadway, a semi truck driven by a grizzled old trucker with a solid green cap hit a patch of uneven road, causing him to lose control of his Peterbuilt. The trucker fought to get his wheels back under him. His pay load was already late for the Tri-City Aquarium, and he knew that this would only slow things down. While still fighting, he came off the road entirely and was now on a crash course with Middleton High School, the students that were outside, and their teacher. Slamming down on the breaks as hard as he could, he was able to bring the truck to a stop just in front of several panicked students.
However, Newton's laws must be obeyed, and for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In this case, the water in the trailer of his truck sloshed forward and busted out the glass that was over it. As the water spilled out, so did its contents. Namely, jellyfish. The jellies were sent everywhere.
Kim and Ron, having been honed by years of missions, jumped out of the way of the oncoming wave. Other students weren't so lucky. Several of them were drenched, while a few others had jellyfish landing on them. Cries of pain were heard as the simple life forms started stinging what they thought were threats.
"Ron, start gathering up the jellyfish, I'll go make sure the driver is alright." Kim ordered to her partner. Ron nodded and made his way over to the students that had jellyfish on them.
Steve Barkin looked at the chaos before him. This never would have happened in the ordered structure of the classroom.
"Oh the stinging! Why is it always the stinging?!" Barkin heard Stoppable scream. Steve knew one thing, and one thing alone, there would be no more outside classes.
