Disclaimer: Towards the middle of the story, Kakuzu sings a song called "Tears From Beyond." As far as I know, this is not an actual song. If I am unknowingly referencing a song of the same name (I doubt it, but I could always be wrong), please say so.
I do not own Naruto, they're Kishimoto's characters...same old, same old.
The rain fell like tears on the window. Every drop cascaded down the glass face, pooling at the lowest frame. Deidara sighed, leaning his head against the glass. A tear of his own slid past his visible eye, down his cheek, and dripped off his chin. Ever since his Danna passed, his puzzle-of-a-life had too many absent pieces. Nothing provoked jot from the blond, not even his artwork. Another tear slid down his porcelain face.
I wish he could have known, Deidara thought hopelessly, I wish he could have known how much I loved him. I wish he could have known how I cherished everything he did. I wish he could have known how his voice made me melt. I wish-
A sudden knock on his door caused the depressed blond to break from his stupor. He craned his head, still against the window, to his left.
"What the fuck do you want, Tobi?" Deidara shouted half-heartedly. What he heard next caused his heart to stop.
"I'm not Tobi, Deidara-san," retorted a deep, gruff voice with the slightest edge. On that note, the door creaked open, revealing a tall, tan man clad in the Akatsuki cloak. Deidara immediately noticed he was sans mask and cover, revealing a slightly-stitched mouth and thick, coffee-bean-brown hair laying mid-back. However, he failed to notice a guitar slung over his shoulder.
The man stepped into the room, to find Deidara leaning against a window, his tears almost resembling the rainfall behind him. All five of his hearts sank at the sight.
"Oi, Deidara-san, what's wrong?" The man wrapped a muscular arm around Deidara's shoulders.
"Um," Deidara was at a loss for words. Was Kakuzu stoned? Or had he changed for the better? He cleared his throat, inhaled a shaky breath, and began to speak.
"I," he choked back a sob, "I just feel k-kinda..." He stumbled over his words.
Kakuzu's jade orbs glistened with a mixture of empathy, confusion, and kindness. He leaned in closer and planted a soft kiss on the blonde's temple.
"I know something that will make you feel much better," Kakuzu whispered. He unzipped his guitar case, pulled out the large instrument, and played an D-minor chord. "This one is called 'Tears From Beyond' Works well, ne?" The words flowed from his lips smoothly as he briefly glanced at the foggy window. On that note, he began to sing to his guitar's strumming.
As Kakuzu sang, Deidara felt his eyes well up once more. His tears cascaded down his face, one by one, like thin rivers of mixed emotions. Part of him still felt the bleak aftermath of losing his Danna. Yet, he was uplifted slightly by Kakuzu's selflessness. The latter continued his song.
As Kakuzu finished singing, Deidara began to regain control of his emotions. Noticing the blonde's heavy breathing, the tan fellow placed his guitar on the other side of the bed, and wrapped his muscled arms around the slender figure.
"It's all going to be okay," the former breathed softly. Lulled by Kakuzu's silky voice, Deidara's eyes fluttered shut.
