Thump thump. Thump thump.
His heart was practically in his troat when he first opened his eyes to meet the ceiling above him. The sound of a young girl shouting to someone made his heart race even faster. Though everything sounded faraway and barely audible, he tried to cling to the voice. Barely conscious he saw two faces standing over him, concern was clearly visible but all he wanted was to sleep. The left side of his face hurt. It hurt so much. In the meantime his heart was doing a great job at imitating a drop of blood giving in to gravity, falling to the ground at lightening speed. His chest hurt, all the pain was blurring his surroundings into one. One moment two people were looming over him and the next the youngest of the two, the girl, was gone. He hadn't even noticed her leaving.
"Do you know you name?" The teen who kneeled down next to him asked. Yes. Kevin Regnard. The white knight of the Sinclairs. Child of misfortune. The red eyed ghost. Feel free to choose one. Was what Kevin had wanted to say in irritation, but all he could mutter was,
"Break." The teen frowned confused, a second later and he nodded and laid a hand on Kevin's shoulder.
"I am Reim Lunettes." The teen said before casting a hasty look towards the basement doors. Probably wondering what was taking the girl so long. Kevin let out a long pained breath and for a moment his heart skipped a beat, it was all too much. He closed his eyes. "Stay with me, Break." Came Reim's worried voice, cutting through the dark void that threatened to consume him. Break. How ironic. He hadn't meant to introduce himself with a false name but the longer he pondered the idea of Break being his name, the more it seemed to fit. He was broken after all, he'd escaped a broken toybox with broken dolls. His broken mind could only think about the reason of why he shouldn't just die right there.
"Xerxes Break." Kevin, no, Break said all of a sudden. Reim looked at him with an unreadable expression. "Nice to meet you." Break whispered before closing his eyes. He didn't even hear Reim's frantic shouts as he let himself slip away.
