It was close to 1:00AM. James Bond was in a hotel room in Paris. He went over to a radio, turned it on, and tuned the dial. Then he sat down in a chair by the radio and pulled out a pencil and paper.
At first, the radio broadcast static. But at precisely 1:00AM, a voice broke through. It was a male voice, and he read off numbers:
"4, 2, 9, 6, 1, 0, 2, 7," and so on.
Bond carefully wrote the numbers down. After a couple minutes, the voice stopped. There was some electronic noise, then he started again. He repeated the earlier sequence. Bond carefully looked over what he wrote to make sure it was correct. When he was satisfied, he turned off the radio.
Then he pulled out a sheet of paper. He compared it to the numbers he wrote down, and wrote letters on top of them.
When he was done, he put the paper in his pajama pocket and went to bed.

A few days later, the body of a man was found. His name was Tim Banfield, and he worked at the British Embassy.
By then, James Bond had left Paris.
