Lost in the Rain: A Ballad
Note: I've never heard a song title called Lost in the Rain, so I will assume this to be my original title. However, if there is a song out there that has the same title, it does not have the same content. I am only a writer who writes fanfics for enjoyment. This is the third poem I wrote for Kingdom of Heaven so far, with more to come in the future. Balian's thoughts as he grieves the loss of his wife and son.
The sun
Once so warm on my face
Is blocked by the grim clouds
That resemble dark shadows
Of death
You are gone without a trace.
You, my one and only
I see no more
Why
Are you no longer in my arms
And why is your voice so distant
When it seemed so close to me before?
Without you, the world
Has lost its beauty
And the world seems to weep for you
It misses your presence, your footsteps
I have nothing left
No remnant
Not even the best memory
Can allow me to see
You.
Why is life so unforgiving
I do not understand
As to condemn a soul to death?
Why must a man endure the agony
Of the greatest theft
That of his family?
Numb
I long for you
To make me feel again
I am dead
And if I could, I would
Give anything
To bring you back
Rise from the dead
If only I had such powers
But my love, my only power
Holds no meaning for you
Now that you are gone.
Where, oh where
Have they taken you?
Is it so far away in time
That you are where the sun never shines?
I walk, many miles
The long and winding road
Never seems to end.
In vain, I search
And the world weeps with me
Sympathy
Of nature
In the dark, gray sky
It cries
Droplets of rain.
Nature's tears are like a million stabs
It hurts even more to know
That I am
Drowning in grief
And I am alone,
Lost in the rain.
