I wish there had been more of a moment between Loki and Thor in IW, so I wrote one. Don't own anything but my broken hear from watching this movie.

Thor couldn't look away from the horror that was unfolding before him.

His brother had died 2 times in front of his very eyes and had come back (for the most part) hale and whole each time. Even though some part of Thor knew, just knew, that this time it was real, he could hardly accept it.

It was a trick, Loki wasn't struggling against the grip of the Mad Titan. It had to be fake because Thor had just about had it with losing people he loved.

Just as Thor was sure he thought he heard a shattering snap and saw a cease to Loki's struggles, everything seemed to stop. Thor looked up from where hue lay on the floor and saw that all was still, even the embers of flames in the air. He heard a familiar voice.

"T-Thor" the voice was calm yet weak.

"Loki!" Thor cried in relief. He tried to move but realized that he too was now frozen in place. Damn the Norns! "Loki I thought . . . You were-" he stopped, tears threatening to rip his voice apart.

"I- Thor- I am." Loki sounded extremely strained, on the brink of . . . something. Thor tried not to think about it. If only he could see his brother!

"What do you mean? Is this yet another trick? Please, brother, please tell me it is." Thor pleaded

Loki let out a strained laugh and Thor thought he felt a gentle breeze in his hair. "Not this time."

The younger god's voice rang out in a cry of pain and the frozen world shifted forward sickeningly but came to a halt once again.

Thor felt nauseous. What was happening? "How are you here if you are truly . . . Gone"

"It's o-only my seidir, I-I can't sustain it for m-uch longer." Loki managed to say.

The frozen world began to quiver around Thor.

"Loki I can't loose you too. I won't be able to bear it," cried the helpless god.

The wavering feeling surrounding Thor suddenly stopped, as if with resolve, and everything became exceedingly solid. "You will bear it." Loki's voice growled. "You are Thor of Asgard, and you are the last of our people." There were tears in Loki's voice. "You will protect that legacy, Thor. You will protect it like you have always protected me and everyone around you because you are a ridiculous oaf full of nothing but goodwill and a desire to pummel things."

Loki paused, he took a shaking breath. "Promise me, Brother. I-I can't hold on."

The world started to move once more but at almost too slow a pace to notice, but Thor could tell it was speeding up permanently. "Loki I-I don't-I can't. You can't."

"Promise me, Thor!" Loki tried to yell. "Or all of this will be for naught! All of it!"

"I promise . .."

Loki let out a small sigh of relief. Silence fell and the brothers let the deep, rumbling quiet roll over them.

"It's been q-quite the adventure hasn't it?" Loki finally said.

Thor let out a short breath, he felt like his lungs could no longer hold air. "Indeed it has."

Reality was slipping back into place more quickly now and Thor felt as though his heart and body were being ripped apart. He had to tell Loki one more thing. "Loki, no matter . . ." He stopped to compose himself, "no matter what has happened between us, I have always been proud of you. Rest well, for you die a true warrior's death."

Thor had to stop there, he had so much more to say but his heart couldn't bear it.

"Goodbye, brother." Was the last whisper he heard before time snapped back into place with a vengeance. Thor breathed heavily, finally able to move. He forced himself to look up at Thanos, at Loki's body.

The god of thunder hung his head, looking down at the ashes of his ship, his people. No matter what he had promised Loki, it was very clear that this was the beginning of the end.
