Adrian and I snuke out for a date. It was hard to plan, but I managed to put all my responsibilities on hold just long enough to meet Adrian at some spacious park he had discovered. We were having a picnic during sunset, so Adrian's Moroi skin wouldn't feel uncomfortable.

I spread a blanket on the ground and Adrian unpacked the sandwiches he made. He also pulled out a travel mug filled with coffee.

I took the cup from him and smiled. "I love you."

He laughed. "I love you too. Now lets eat."

Just as I was unwrapping a sandwich and Adrian was opening a bag of chips, Hopper flew out of my purse. "Oh no," I began, "I thought I locked your cage."

Adrian laughed and placed a handful of chips on his knee just as Hopper settled into his lap. Adrian bent down to plant a kiss on top of the dragon's head. "You can't be so mean to him after he saved our lives, Sage."

"I know," I grudgingly admitted. "But he's an accidental demon."

Adrian dramatically gasped and covered Hopper's ears with his hands. "Don't you dare talk about our baby like that! Especially when he can hear you." He lifted the dragon up to look it straight in the eyes. In a voice that people usually only used on dogs and babies, he said, "Don't listen to Mommy. She's just being a Krabby Patty."

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and looked into Hoppers'. "Mommy and Daddy are trying to have a romantic date." Then turning to Adrian, "Kids ruin everything."

He let out a loud laugh; a genuinely happy laugh that I loved to hear so much. He cupped my face and kissed me passionately on the lips. It didn't last long though, because Hopper let out an audible yawn, which was actually pretty cute.

"I think this is really romantic," Adrian announced.

"How so?"

"Anybody can kiss, but it takes a hell of a lot of love to raise a baby. Especially an unexpected, supernatural baby. We're like a happy family."

This made me smile. I lied down, resting my head on his lap, as he played with my hair. Hopper curled up on my stomach and started dosing off as I rubbed his little back.

"Yeah," I decided. I looked up into his beautiful emerald eyes and smiled. "We are a happy family."
