I can hear nothing but firearm warfare, sirens and screams of petrified children. Our abandoned-car hideout won't be here for long, but I am surprised that the bombs have missed it. Feeling her squeeze my arm, I glance down to look at my little sister. Tears flow down her cheeks and make my blue velvet sleeve all soggy.

"There she is! Get her!"

"Activate the pod! Pod three-nine-two, now!"

Soldiers from the Capitol are yelling commands here and there, and the Rebels just keep pushing onto us. For one moment, I wonder which pod is the one sitting right underneath us, waiting to kill us. Even though we are a part of the Capitol, I know that they wouldn't hesitate to 'sacrifice' a citizen or two.

All of a sudden, a terrible boom comes from somewhere very close by. I lift my head to assess the damage, only to find the building next to us about to topple over. In an attempt to save my sister from any further harm, I shield her in my brace position. A million thoughts rush through my head, but before I can choose one to focus on, something very hard and very heavy crashes down. Pain is short-lived, as soon enough I feel nothing. Nothing but a sense of incompleteness.
