Sam chokes back blood, as Dean runs to his side. Dean helps him- still looking out. Sam clutches a dirty cloth to his neck to stem the bleeding. Dean looks around, wondering where the escaped demon has gone. Malicious laughter their only warning before she appeared. Without hesitation Sam holds out his palm and exorcises the demon.
"Dean…" Sam tries to say, hoarse and desperate.
Dean shakes his head, exasperated with blood in his eyes. "No, I understand, you had to."
But Dean wonders how much more tension will splinter their partnership before it is too late.
