A/N: This story literally came out of nowhere but part of it was inspired by the Veronica Mars Movie and part of it was inspired by JamNessity saying Jess hasn't done this big romantic gesture. Yeah, I wrote this in 20 minutes and I'm posting it un-edited.

Nick was walking away from her.

It's over.

She didn't think it would happen like this, even if it may have been her idea. He always fought for her but not this time, it was like he had given up.

Jess ran after Nick. "Nick, wait."

He stopped, turned and looked at Jess, tears welling in his eyes.

He never cries. Jess thought to herself. "Don't go." She said softly.

"Jess, what are you...?" He couldn't even finish the sentence.

"Don't go." She repeated a little louder. Jess walked up to Nick slowly. "Don't go, this is a fight. We fight all the time. We can get past this. I know we can get past this." She sobbed a little, tear drops slowly falling down her face.

"Just five minutes ago you suggested we break up!" Nick had never been more confused in his life.

"I am an idiot. A fool and I can't let the one man I love with all my heart just walk away." Jess paused. "You always fought for me so here I am fighting for you." Jess took his hands with her own. "Don't give up on us."

Nick slowly processed what Jess had said. It was true, he did always fight but this time he felt like giving up. Or maybe he just needed reminding that they were worth fighting for. Nick removed his hands which were still wrapped up in Jess' and gave her a big bear hug. As Jess hugged him back, he started talking. "I won't go but we need to work on the talking thing." He unwrapped himself from Jess and gave her a small kiss on the forehead. "But it has been a long day and I'm pretty sure that I'm still hungover. Can we just go to bed?"

"But what about this? We can't leave what just happened hanging in the air."

"Tomorrow, we will talk about it. Everything. We just need to remind ourselves we can be friends who are also crazy in love." Nick walked into his bedroom and got into bed. "But we can't do that until we have slept because right now, I'm not thinking straight and neither are you."

Jess nodded and followed Nick into bed. "I like that idea."

They didn't cuddle like they would have if it was any other night, but slowly Jess' hand moved to Nicks side of the bed and took his hand in her own.

It wasn't much but it was a start.
