Title: A Paradoxical Curse

Author: Psykiapa (with much help from ClothoLachesisAtropo)

Summary: Harry has been sent back into time, only to become a Slytherin in the seventh year of his father, Sirius, Remus, and Severus. He has fallen desperately in love with Snape, and is now, as the paradox of his life predicts, being forced into hiding in order to not further hasten the oncoming paradox. This is the story of the years apart.

Disclaimer: As usual, I'm not so brilliant as to have caught onto this idea first. However, it is in fact a continuation of the lovely ClothoLachesisAtropo, and is a continuation of her lovely, lovely fic The Return of the Prodigal, or, rather, the story of what was left out. I suggest you all read that before delving too deeply into this. Thanks!

Prologue:
A Plague on the Paradox

The wind chilled bone, stinging as it swept through Harry. It reached toward him with pale hands, doing nothing of the fears that one would expect it to exhibit. Rather, it comforted him, giving him the knowledge that yes, he was still alive.

He traveled light. There was the old sword he had been given, as well as a few of the more fashionable muggle clothes he had found. There were a few food rations, and everything was wrapped up in a blanket. His cloak was damp from cold, winter still affecting the weather.

Harry's teeth chattered as he turned away. His eyes closed, creating creases upon their lids. His delicate lashes fluttered, coated with love and the curse of a paradox. He was hurt because he couldn't be with the man he so desperately cared for, and yet he knew that if he weren't here, right now, leaving him, he would never have come to love him so.

Severus.

His heart cried as it saw the pale skin, the dark, curling hair, and, most of all, his heart burned when it saw his midnight eyes. The eyes of his heart were both a curse and a blessing, another of Harry's many anomalies.

The year was 1977, the month, March. The theme: heartbreak.
