Prologue
"Leon, it's been a while", Claire Redfield said as Leon Scott Kennedy entered the living room of the Burton household. Chris Redfield, Claire's brother and his girlfriend Jill Valentine along with Barry Burton, his daughter Moira and Sherry Birkins and her boyfiend Jake Muller were seated in the couch.
"It's nice to see all of us here together like civilized people instead of grouping up to kill virus-infected people" Leon mentioned.
"Not for long though" Moira muttered under her breath.
Claire made the quick introductions and turned to Barry, "What's wrong Barry? I don't think you'd invite all of us here just for quick chat. What's going on? Where's Natalia?"
"That's why I wanted all of you here together. What happened-it was so sudden. I thought she was out of our lives for good. But… " Barry looked truly stressed, which is saying something since the man is always so calm.
"What happened to Natalia?" Jill asked. Claire had filled all of them in with what happened in the island with Alex Wesker before they came here.
"That she-Wesker had a part of her in Natalia. After her death we thought Natalia was safe. That Alex Wesker's experiment had failed. But we were wrong. The earlier signs weren't that clear. Natalia was interested in Franz Kafka's poetry. And was collecting information about bio-terrorism. We thought that was because what happened in the island so we let it slip. But then she asked how the viruses were made. She looked up Umbrella's headquarters. We told her not to get too into these things and she began acting strange. More like a grown-up than a 10-year-old. She began sneaking out of the house. One day we followed her out and caught her trying to feed something to a stray dog in a dark alley The dog's eyes turned completely red and it turned into one of the monsters. And she killed it. With a knife, swiftly as if she was trained her whole life for it. After that... she just disappeared " Barry told them.
"Oh poor Natalia!" Sherry said with a sad face. She knew what it was like to be in danger of turning into a hideous monster when she was so young. Jake took her hand as Moira consoled her father. And she said something that brought back lots and lots of horrible memories.
"That's not it. The island off course of Washington, Laurea? The whole island has been infected with a virus."
