A/N: So pretend Declan's ex-girlfriends name isn't Sophie, its Emily. I forgot to actually look it up before I picked it. Oops ;) Well. This is somewhat of a songfic for Declan. He's so yummy. Oneshot. Declan/OC. RRplease! This is my first songfic. D:
I also don't own Degrassi or the song Emily by From First To Last.
Smiles and her laughter,
It's the only thing that I've been waiting for a time.
Regardless of our distance and our hope grows greater.
Trapped by pretty eyes and letters for all time.
... the only thing that I've been waiting for.
Declan smiled as he gazed upon the picture of a girl with golden blonde curled-hair and hazel eyes. It was quite stereotypical for a caucasian. She was holding a dog; a Labrador Retreiver to be exact. Her smile was great and brightened up his own smile.
He gazed at the picture moments longer before his sister entered his room.
"Declan it's time to go. Mom is waiting for us in the limo." Fiona Coyne announced.
"I'll be there in a moment." he replied shyly.
"Alright," she said before approaching her brother giving a gentle kiss upon the cheek. She glanced at the picture and exited the room.
'Cause there's no one in the world like Emily.
"Emily." Declan identified the girl. Emily De Rousse. The girl he fell for.
She's simple yet confusing
Sparkling eyes make me weak at my words, they tremble.
The image of her haunted him. Her smile, her legs, and her laugh. Those were Declan's favorite attributes of her. Even though everything about her was perfect, there were things that stood out.

"I'm sorry Coyne, I can't be put through this. You're moving to New York. This long distance thing isn't going to work." Emily always called Declan by his last name, it was the way they were introduced to each other.
"Emily..." Declan started, felt his stomach churning as he started to say the following words. "I love you."
"Declan you're telling me this the day before you leave to New York! You can't do this to me!" Emily pleaded. Emily was now speaking in French the random outbursts of French startled Declan at times. She paced around the room ranting in French about how frustrated she was.
Next thing she knew Declan's lips were on hers. She couldn't help it, they had been going steady for five months and she did love him back. Why didn't he say it before? His fingers interlaced with her hair as he started to intensify the kiss. Emily wrapped her arms around his neck and replied to the kiss. Her lips were warm on his.
Emily pulled away, "This isn't going to work out, and you know it."
Declan could feel his heart breaking. He had never been the dumpee, always the dumper. He thought Emily was different.

Not a single tear was shed after that day. Declan never kept a girlfriend for more than mere weeks because he was afraid of heartache. Every girl that would try to get close to him, he would push away. Not one girl has been able to penetrate that wall. The only girl that he has in his life is his sister, Fiona. She may be a little too much to handle, but he doesn't mind getting his hands dirty every now and then.
Declan's phone vibrated indicating he recieved a text message. He slid his finger across his phone to unlock it and viewed the message. "Hurry! We will leave you! Mom has to be in Canada by the end of the day.. -Fi" Declan shoved his phone back into his pocket, grabbed his backpack and headed out of his New York home. All the memories, and regrets were now cleared. It was time to make a new start. There were plenty of girls in Canada. Is the right one going to be there?
I hope it's worth the waiting
It's the only time that I ever feel real..
