Summary: Stoick and Gobber walk in on a Hiccstrid moment and finds out about the two's relationship, basically Stoick and Gobber's reaction to Hiccup and Astrid finally becoming a thing – I'll try not to make this too cliché, but it probably will turn out cliché anyway

Time: After S4, the day before Hiccup and Astrid's betrothal

Although the volcano was stabilised enough to live on the Edge, the riders had to return to Berk to stock up on supplies and spread the news about their new enemy, Krogan. So now, the gang were in the Great Hall preparing everything, Snotlout and the twins were restocking the groups while Hiccup, Astrid and Fishlegs were discussing the situation with Stoick. "So, you're saying this masked man, Krogan, is now leading the leftover hunters? Does the world ever let my boy and his friends relax?" Stoick sighed stressfully. Hiccup chuckled a little and then replied, "Yeah, but we have the Edge's volcano controlled so at least we got rid of that problem."

"Okay, well, just remember son, if you need help, ask!" Stoick advised as he walked to the exit of the hall and left. Hiccup then turned around to face his friends who were now just sitting and chatting on their table. "Alright gang, we'll set off for the Edge tomorrow morning and hope to arrive there around the afternoon. We're sleeping at Berk for the night." Hiccup announced. Fishlegs, Snotlout and the twins started to get up and call their dragons over, then flew off the stairs of the Hall. Astrid however stayed behind.

"So, what're you planning to do the rest of the day?" she asked Hiccup as she walked up to him. "I don't really know, wanna take a flight?" Hiccup offered while grabbing her hand as they started to walk out of the Hall. "Sure! Uhm, Hiccup, have you told your dad about us?" Astrid changed the topic. "Uh, no, not yet, have you told your parents?" Hiccup replied as the two started trotting down the stone steps. "No, when do you plan on doing so?" she questioned. "I don't even know, should we? I mean, you know him, the minute he knows, the entire village knows!" Hiccup said. Astrid merely chuckled and the comment. "I was thinking of telling mom once you told your dad, but I guess that's not happeningto soon!" Astrid said and the two laughed as they let go of each other's hands and separated to mount their dragons.

They soared through the rose-pink clouds in the sunshine coated sky, wind slapping their faces, ruffling their hair and whistling in their ears. They dived down to find numerous amounts of trees and bushes, each owning their own shade of green, ahead. Although the pair managed to smoothly manoeuvre through them without losing coordination. Toothless decided to break the peaceful yet romantic silence and shot a small blast of his violet plasma, triggering Stormfly and Astrid to turn their heads around to see a grinning Hiccup, "Race?" he asked as he leaned forward ready to accelerate.

"You're on, dragon b-" Astrid was interfered by Hiccup abruptly shooting past her and gliding upwards mango coloured even sky. "Hey, not fair Hiccup!" Astrid yelled as she sped up and managed to reach up to Toothless' tail. Hiccup just laughed and looped backward to end up flying upside down and in the other direction, completely perplexing Astrid when Hiccup, still upside down, pecked her cheek as he dashed by. Astrid smiled widely and hurriedly turned around the catch up with Hiccup, who had now zoomed across about 10 metres in front after that little 'diversion'.

Once Hiccup was finally in Astrid's view, she saw that he had already landed on the cliff of the island they just raced off and now was lazing against Toothless who seemed to be napping in his paws. The surroundings just beautified the landscape even, the cliff seemed to be an open corner that had escaped a blanket of dark green fern trees, well, from the top anyway. Astrid landed behind and stomped up to him, punching his shoulder causing him to jerk away in pain, but he smiled anyway. "You cheated! First you got a head start, and then you… um, distracted me!" Astrid stuttered as she took her place on the right of him, her cheeks slightly tinting. "Oh come on, you're not gonna pout over a race now, are you? It's okay…" Hiccup comforted jokingly while draping one arm behind her and another in front and started stroking her like a baby. Astrid giggled and just hugged him back.

However, a crackling noise sounded their ears drums which was then accompanied by a nearly blinding light, causing Astrid to faintly stiffen. Hiccup's eyes widened when he felt her body tighten around him, so he pulled away a bit and kissed her forehead, signalling that nothing will go wrong again. Astrid calmed down a little and smiled, although she felt a drop of water hit her nose. Before they knew it, they were drenched in icy water as the storm worsen bit by bit every second. Even the dragons woke up and started running around, panicking or playing, Hiccup and Astrid weren't sure, all they knew was that they had to get out of there fast. The couple whistled for them and Toothless and Stormfly ran to their owners and were mounted and immediately evacuated from the scene, that was still enchanting, despite the rain.

Hiccup and Astrid shivered as they trudged into the nearest structure, which was, fortunately, Hiccup's hut. Toothless and Stormfly also followed suit and nestled into the warmth by the fire Hiccup just lit and fell into a tranquil sleep. The soaked pair had also dried up from the comfort of the flames. Astrid, now, was peering out of the window at the sapphire mixed with cerulean blue sky, and silver stars flickered here and there, illuminating the sky, all of this told her it was way past dusk. The ongoing rain had changed into a chilly sleet that somehow darkened the sky even more. "Wanna sleep at mine tonight? It doesn't look like this weather's gonna alter any time soon." Hiccup invited while yawning and stretching his arms out wide. Astrid sighed relaxingly, "Sure, are you certain your dad won't see us?" she queried.

"Even if he does come back, I doubt he'll barge into my room. C'mon, let's just head to bed." Hiccup gestured to follow and the two cantered up the creaking stairs. The two sat themselves down on the bed took off their armour off, but the silence put an awkward vibe in the atmosphere. Astrid interrupted the quietness, "Hiccup?" "Yeah?" he waited. "Thanks, for today, it was fun." she responded calmly. Hiccup grinned and joined her on the edge of the bed. Without a word, Hiccup leaned in towards Astrid and she absent-mindedly did the same until their lips met and melted into a heated, passionate frenzy of love. Thinking they had all the time in the world, they held the kiss long enough for Hiccup to snake his arms around Astrid's waist and for Astrid to cup Hiccup's jaw with one hand and rake the other from his neck through his tousled auburn hair.

What they didn't have enough time for, was to pull away before the carmine bearded, vast chief, also known as Hiccup's dad, Stoick, stepped through the bedroom door, who was also accompanied by theblond bearded, one-armed, one-leggedviking, also known as the dragon dentist and weapon maker, Gobber. "Hiccup?" Stoick croaked, throat too dry to speak clearly, whereas Gobber just stood with his shoulders slumped and jaw dropped. Hiccup widened his emerald eyes and Astrid her sapphire the second they heard the chief's voice among them.

"How long?" Stoick said in a stern voice at the duo sitting anxiously on the other side of the fire. "About a month?" the two said in unison, looking down at the floor, also trying to keep distance from each other in case Stoick doesn't 'approve'. "HAHA! WELL WHY DIDN'T YA TELL ME EARLIER!?" Stoick instantaneously shouted with a gleeful grin plastered across his face and he abruptly stood up and hugged the breath out of his son and future daughter-in-law. "Wait, so you're not mad?" Hiccup asked hesitantly with a small smile. "Mad!? Why would I be mad!? I'm happy for the both you, son!" Stoick exclaimed. "Aye, we've been watching you make puppy eyes at the lass since you were Thor knows how old!" Gobber added with a large grin. That last part caused Astrid to glance at Hiccup suspiciously while he just awkwardly chuckled and looked away.

This made Gobber and Stoick also glance at each other and laugh at the kids' antics. "No wonder your friends would act funny when I asked them where you two were." Stoick included. "But one last question, what is Astrid doing here anyway?" Stoick asked concerned. "Uhm, it was dark and rainy outside, so I thought it wouldn't be a good idea to let her go home in the cold weather." Hiccup nervously explained, unsure of his father's reaction. "Oh, well that's fine then, I'll let your parents know tomorrow morning." Stoick nodded. "I'll head to bed then…" Astrid said slightly awkwardly while she went up the steps again.

"Hiccup?" Stoick said softly. "Yeah dad?" Hiccup answered. "I want you to have this, or well, have it to give to Astrid." Stoick turned around a walked over to a large ornate chest in the far corner of the house. As he opened it, he pulled out what seemed to look like a circular pendant with a symmetrical pattern carved into with utmost precision and perfection. Although, there was a small hole at the top, there was string tied through it. "This was my betrothal gift to your mother, now I want you to give it to your lass." Stoick replied proudly while he gently placed it in Hiccup's hands, who just held it tenderly and gazed at it. Then he looked up at his dad again and smiled while he stored it safely in his pocket.

"Thanks dad, good night." Hiccup ended the conversation and began climbing up the stairs again when Stoick's voice obstructed him, "Oh, and Hiccup?" "Yes?" he waited. "Try closing the bedroom door next time." Stoick smirked, "Uhh, sure," Hiccup blushed a bit and nodded before he continued his way up to his room where he found Astrid peacefully huddled up on one side of his bed. He beamed at the pretty adorable sight and went and huddled up next and hugged her from behind, making a small mumble creep out of Astrid, it was undecipherable, but Hiccup ignored it and fell into a deep sleep.
