Kindling A Flame

Prologue

As every starter begins their adventure, I was chosen by a Trainer. I didn't have any say in it. My Pokeball was just chosen and claimed by a girl with jet black hair and violet eyes.

I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Fennekin. I'm the Fire type starter in the Kalos region. I know I don't look like much now but I haven't been defeated once- and I want to keep it that way. The other starters say I'm going to be the strongest of us all.

But I'm getting off topic now. Now, I was chosen by a Trainer. She also didn't look like much at the time and she said she chose me because I was cute. I mean I know I am cute, but really? Don't you have a better reason for choosing me?

Okay, off topic again, I know, but cute?

Anyway, the Trainer said her name was Violet- and I remember thinking that it suited her because of her deep purple eyes. She spoke words of introductions to me as she held my ball in her palm- at least, that was what I assumed she was saying. Listening through a Pokeball is actually very hard. Normally all you might hear is blurred words.

Soon after she picked up my Pokeball, she released me in a battle. My opponent was the Grass starter Chespin. Chespin and I were good friends so it wasn't at all pleasing for me when I had to use Ember against it. It looked like it hurt a lot. Poor Chespin didn't stand a chance against the flames.

But after the battle my Trainer didn't return me to my Pokeball. Instead she looked me in the eys and asked me this: "Do you really want to go back in the ball? I know I wouldn't like it trapped all day long."

This shocked me but I didn't go back in, because she was right; why spend the whole day trapped in a ball?

She put my empty Pokeball in her handbag and lifted me up to her shoulder where I gladly sat and relaxed while she walked me to a Pokecentre.

Maybe this whole Trainer thing isn't going to be that bad.

Oh, yes. It's finally time I started on this story. Life As A Fire Type- as this was known- was previously written by my good friend, LilacFlowinn, but unfortunately she couldn't finish it and handed the reins for me to take over.

For all who loved that story, I give you this. A chance to relive the journey she has brought you down.

And a warning for those wondering, this story will be MA rated but I will warn you at that piont. The POV will change between human and Pokemon quite frequently, but you will be warned of when.

That is all I have to say, and I hope I will meet with your approval.
