She smiled as he walked in the door, giving a quick glance around before walking towards her, brows furrowing as he peered into the pot that she was stirring. She could tell from his face that he was not too sure what was going she was doing.
"I'm making jam," she explained with her usual smile and she held up the spoon.
"Want to try it?" she asked.
He blinked and looked between her and the red substance on the spoon. He did like jam or at least he had liked it the last time he tried it almost five years ago. And he had to admit that it looked good and Aeris certainly knew what she was doing. She had proved many times that she had amazing kitchen skills.
"Are the hotel allowing you to do this?" he asked, still making no move to taste the jam.
"Yeah, it took some convincing though," she replied with a grin. "I told them it was for our journey," she added before turning back to the pot.
Cloud continued to watch her as he leaned against the wall with his arms folded. Aeris did not really mind when people watched her cooking so long as they did not distract her too much at crucial points. However, with Cloud being the silent type that he was, she had no worries about that.
"Are you sure you don't want to taste it?" she asked, holding the spoon out once again.
Cloud remained as he was for a moment before he pushed himself off the wall and walked towards her. His cheeks burned slightly as he opened his mouth to take in the object, his eyes locked with Aeris' the whole time. She just smiled, finding Cloud's embarrassment incredibly cute and had to resist the urge to giggle in front of him.
He swallowed it carefully, letting the taste linger for a moment. It was nice, in fact one of the best he had tasted in a long time. It was strawberry flavour, his favourite and not it did not have too strong or weak a taste. It was just right. He gave Aeris one of his famous half smiles and nodded.
"It's good," he admitted. She grinned and touched the corner of her mouth.
"You have a bit there," she said.
Cloud brought his hand up to wipe it away but he couldn't quite get it all. Aeris reached over for the cloth and gently wiped at it, her cheeks turning pink at the closeness between the two of them. She stopped and looked up into his eyes to see that he was staring down at her with equal emotion swimming in his orbs. With no warning, he leaned down and gently pressed his lips against hers. Her emerald eyes widened as she felt the soft touch but they soon fluttered shut and her arms encircled his neck.
Cloud thought the jam was sweet but kissing Aeris was sweeter.
