"Mum we've got like 5 minutes!" Rory called from where she was currently standing in the hall, waiting (which was a common occurrence) for her mother to get ready for their infamous Friday Night Dinners. Even though Rory would secretly like nothing better than to turn up to her grandparents house wearing short shorts and a 'ridiculous' bright pink hello kitty t-shirt; which was what her mum was planning on wearing, but knew that despite whatever comic value that would indeed come out of such a proceeding, Emily was sure to hold it against the pair of them for months on end. And knowing just to what extent her grandmother could hold a grudge for Rory was eager for when her mother eventually did make it down the stairs, that as always she was 'only joking' about the outfit and 'of course I would never dare wear such a thing.' So it was indeed a relief when Lorelai haphazardly half fell half ran down the stairs clutching her bag and coat- and more importantly wearing a very nice and respectable (at least on Lorelai's count) blue dress.

"You look nice mum" Rory said.

"Why 'cheers darling' and I must say you look mighty fine yourself" Lorelai quipped in what was closest to a South American cowboy kind of accent.

"Okay you really need to improve the whole accents thing, because I hate to break it to you mum but you truly are terrible" Said Rory smiling.

"Hey!" Lorelai said indignantly, "Did not know I raised a daughter in the 'Accent Police' but hey do whatever you want, I mean its not like my opinion counts, I mean I'm only the one person that let you grow inside of me for 9 months and ………hours!" Ranted Lorelai, feigning hurt.

"You know you can't just hold that over me forever. Whenever we have a disagreement you just say 'Yeah well I gave birth to you.' Which I must say isn't a very strong argument especially when you've used it in every single one." Rory said reasonably.

"hmmph you know you're my least favourite daughter don't you" Lorelai said giving evils to her daughter.

"I'm your only daughter mum, so you're stuck with me" Rory said and they both smiled before walking out to Lorelai's trusty truck.
