[handwritten in a diary]
~About the Author~ My name is Soggvir. I'm a bard at the Bards College of Solitude... well, an aspiring bard. Most of the other bards just refer to me as "hey, you" or "kid with the red hair". Anyways, one of the bards suggested (rather rudely, I might add) that I go write something to improve on my terrible prose. So here I am, writing something. I won't let them keep me down. I'll fill this whole book with my work, and then I'll reap the rewards of my success.
~- ~- The Dragonborn's Legacy -~ -~
Nothing has been the same since the Dragonborn's appearance.
None know from whence they came, or to whither they fled. The mightiest of heroes, who tore asunder the great scaly beasts of yore, vanished as if a puff of smoke, just as quickly as they came. But what they left behind has wrought many a sorrow upon the people.
I heard tales of their meteoric rise. Their bravery, surpassing all others and challenging the dragons themselves. But as they climbed their way into the pages of history, so too did wild creatures climb into power. A hero who should have safeguarded the people instead departed without a word.
Woe unto miners who delve into dangerous depths! Woe unto the travelers who walk the roads, wary of bandits! The danger has increased, but here we are, just as fragile as the thinnest ice upon the lake.
