It was the night of the Winter Dance. Alanna and Queen Thayet had dressed Daine in an amethyst short sleeve dress. Daine didn't want to go, but Numair had asked her to go with him.
Hours had passed when Daine had gone to out to the balcony. She talked to Kit, saying how things were going and Kit to use a spell to help her clean up. Daine never noticed that Numair had come up behind her. "Magelet." Numair whispered.
"Oh, hello Numair. What are you doing out here? asked Daine.
"Seeing where you were. I have something for you." replied Numair.
"Close your eyes Magelet." Daine closed her eyes as Numair pulled a necklace out of his coat pocket. He walked behind Daine and hooked the necklace behind her neck. He said, "Open your eyes Magelet." as he made it back in front of Daine. Daine looked down at the necklace. It was a silver heart necklace with a small Peridot birthstone. She touched it gently and looked at Numair.
"Numair it's beautiful." Daine said, "What is this for?"
"Do you really have to ask Daine? I got it because it's your birthstone and you have my heart." Numair answered. Daine stood there speechless. 'He…he said I have his heart. After all this time he telling me he loves me.' "Daine, Daine are you alright?"
"Uh, oh yeah I'm alright Numair." replied Daine.
"Daine, may I kiss you." Numair asked staring her in the eyes. Daine was once again speechless. 'I've dreamt when this would happen. Now I'm scared he won't like me.' "Daine, you really need to stop spacing out." He told her as he kissed her.
That night Numair stayed up writing Daine a poem. By morning Numair had slipped the poem under Daine's door. When Daine woke up and was ready to go down to breakfast and found the poem on the floor.
Dearest Daine,
This is a poem to express how kissing you felt.
A Kiss is but a single word
A link to another soul
Any voice stays unheard
Sinks within a darkened hole
Into the ground the voice is swallowed
For it did not share its lust
To the person to which whom denied
Remains deprived of eternal trust
Until the lips poisoned
With the love that comes from mine
Thou will never know the truth
Of the power so deviate
An outburst of passion overpowers
From a placed deep within my mangles brain
A connection filled with desires
Whether up or down the heart does shift
And the blood flow doesn't stay the same
The love level won't remain won't remain
An untrue burden such depart thee
All that's left is there to gain.
Hope you understand what I was trying to say Magelet. When I see you later expect me to be quoting this poem to you. I love you my Magelet.
~Numair
Daine look at the poem with a smile. Last night wasn't a dream. Numair, my mage, really does love me. Daine folded the poem and placed it inside her pocket. She walked down to breakfast smiling, waiting to see her mage.
