Ha, this one is short, but I think it's funny.

Well, this is the last of the Mockingbird saga.

If you're new here, read Mockingbird, Bully, The Moments After and Of Dice and Men.

They're also part of this fun little ride.

Reviews are nice. Thanks for putting up with me!

Hero

he·ro

–noun, plural -roes; for 5 also -ros.

1.

a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

Optimus Prime had looked up the word after watching a movie. The man had dressed in black with a long cape and a mask. He ran out at night and fought crime; he rescued children and beat up the psychopaths.

Yes, he knew he was probably calling the kettle black, but the lifestyle alone looks glamorous. Striking fear into the hearts of ne'er-do-wells, being idolized by children. It seemed nice.

And, no on had to know his identity, right? All heroes had secret identities to protect their family and loved ones. He could keep his identity a secret and no one would know it was him performing these heroic acts. The plan was full proof!

He found an old curtain and had cut it into a cape. He dyed it black, and had gone out and bought a cheap costume mask. Optimus Prime smiled as he began to work on the rest of his outfit. He looked up other hero designs, Superman, the Green Lantern, Spiderman, and Batman. They were all nice, so he decided to try and pull ideas from each of them.

Yes. Yes, this could work. It could, and it will.

On a piece of paper, he wrote various names to call himself. Heroman, too generic. Dr. Virtue, it has a nice ring to it. The Evil-Destroyer, no. Definitely not. Finally, he came up with one he liked.

Captain Justice.

The costume was hard to design. He didn't want to look like someone who was ready to go to a costume party, so he decided to try and mix it up.

Spiderman's mask, Batman's cape, Superman's outfit, yes. Yes. Just pull different ideas from the greatest superheroes of all time.

Optimus pulled everything together and it looked nice on paper. He wrote Captain Justice across the top of the crudely drawn (and colored) picture and got to work on pulling the costume into reality.

Everything was found easily enough. He could do this. He could actually be a hero and fight crime! Maybe he could get a type of Batsignal. Maybe a big "CJ" in the sky, or a silhouette of him, nothing too fancy. He pulled on the mask and attached the cape to his shoulders. Everything fit nicely.

He turned towards a full body mirror and looked at himself.

A black cape, blue spandex, red underwear, red and white mask, white gloves, black shoes and a yellow utility belt stared back at him. Optimus for feel it getting hot under the mask, and it wasn't just from his breath.

"Maybe I should just stay here, and never let anyone see me like this." He nodded.

That was the best idea he had all day.
