ATTENTION

I do not own any of these characters, except for Emiliann and Jo Ann. Thank you.

Someone screamed.

"Look out!"

"Oh my god!"

"Emili!"

Emiliann turned her head in confusion whilst the others screamed. A black Escalade zoomed towards her tiny frame; there was no chance of it stopping. It hit.

Pain. Ultimate pain. She had never imagined she would ever feel it in this magnitute.

Emili's body was hot with the blood and her arms and legs were numb. But then something embraced her--it was cold and hard.

It was an odd sensation, the pain and the numbness and the heat and the coolness all at once. But it felt...good.

Emili's body ached all over. She opened her eyes a crack to see she was in a hospital room; it was dimly lit. There was soft music coming from something near her. Emili shifted her eyes to see a nurse singing softly in spanish.

The lady was of Mexican descent, Emiliann decided, and looked to be in her mid-thirties. She had perfume on. It smelled nice, like gardenia. The nametag clipped to her crisp white scrub top said Jo Ann Trevino.

"You have a beautiful voice," Emili rasped.

The nurse jumped. "Thank you," she said blushing. "I'm just going to get you some water, okay? I'll be right back, sweetie."

Not thirty seconds after the nurse left, a young man walked in. He had pale, pale skin and reddish brown hair. He was beautiful.

She's staring at me, a velvet voice said.

"You say something?"

The man sighed. "Emili Mann, I need to talk to you," he said.

It was his voice that said I was staring at him! I wonder what's going on here?

"Two months ago, when you were hit by a car, I picked you up and brought you here to the hospital. They said that you had lost so much blood, you were sure to die. My brothers and sisters feared for you. My father, Dr. Carlisle Cullen, said you must undergo the transformation or die." He closed his eyes. "We chose the transformation."

"What transformation?" Emili asked, confused.

"You are a vampire," he said after a moment's hesitation.

"You're kidding, right?" Emili asked hysterically.

"No. It is the truth," he said simply. He stood up and strode toward the door. "I'll have Alice explain when you are discharged."

"Wait. What is your name?" Emili asked.

The young man stopped in his tracks.

"Edward Cullen."

The door shut with a click.
