"Six alive. Two spotted. 310-320. Engage."

I was in what had to be my most heated PUBG match to date. I only had a couple wins so far, but this was about to be my next. With one click of my mouse, another target had fell. My teammate took down the other, and now it was 2v2. All on the line, we went over the next hill. Suddenly, I saw a little glint. We spotted our final targets, but they must have found us first.

*CRACK*. My teammate was down and I was forced to take them both on. Luckily I had a Red Dot M416 and L3 armor, and they weren't good shots. Must have been a fluke, on their end. Unlucky for them. One magazine later, I saw the words "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!". Me and my teammate hooted and hollered for a minute, and then I decided it was getting late. I closed the game, shared the screenshot, and disconnected from Discord.

I noticed something before I shut down, though. I had a minimized window at the bottom of my screen. I didn't remember leaving anything open, so I maximized it. I had apparently left DDLC open, and it was on Act 1 Saturday, Yuri's route, about in the middle of the whole event. I shrugged it off. If I were to leave the game open, this is what it would probably be on, I guess.

I had first played DDLC all the way back in December. I had gotten the subjective "good" ending for it as well, although not the first time. I still kept it for the nostalgia, pretty much. On Discord I was with tons of friends who played it, so I wasn't forgetting about it anytime soon. But beyond all of the memes and mods and the like, sometimes it's fun to go back and see it all again. The real game. Well...at least Act One. Some things were not meant to be seen over and over again. Most of my recent playthroughs were through the Yuri route, but I hadn't remembered playing it today. I really didn't. That's what was so strange about this event. But, I must have. It's not like the game opened by itself.

I laugh weakly to myself, and then I sigh. As much as I would love to go on from this point I left off on, I move to close the window. But when I hit the red X in the top-right, a message appeared on the screen, in the typical text box:

"N-no...stay just a little longer…"

...

What is this? That's not normal.

I decided to just let the message hang for about a minute. I didn't really know what to do. Maybe it could have been a hidden feature? But I never heard anything like that ever happening to anyone. I moved my cursor towards the "X" again. It must have recognized this, because when I hovered over it another message then suddenly appeared:

"D-don't leave just yet...plea-"

Suddenly, this message was cut off and overlapped by another one:

"Do you really love her?"

Okay. What the hell is going on? Should I just use the power button and shut my PC off?

One thing struck me, though. There wasn't a input option on the screen. No "Yes/No" option. What do I do? My answer hit me when I saw a system notification at the bottom of the screen that had shown up recently: "Your microphone is being used by: DDLC".

Oh no. That means...I have to say something as a response. Is that what this means? I've never heard of this happening to anyone. Ever. But...it must be, right?

And that was when I made what might be the biggest mistake of my life. My mic was already extended and unmuted. So I gave…it...a response.

"Yes."

I felt a slight rumble. Faint, and brief. Was it just a coincidence? I hope so. The message then vanished from the screen and I was left with nothing except for the image of Yuri in the MC's bedroom. There was no text. The music cut out and was silent. Yeah, now I'm worried.

Quickly, another message: "Y-y-you do?". And suddenly, when this message appeared, Yuri's image changed expressions from normal to surprised.

Oh my god. What the fuck is going on? Can she hear me?

I knew one thing. I did not need this at eleven at night. I didn't do much today, and I was still exhausted somehow. This was not helping at all. I stood up from my chair.

I kept looking at the screen, and noticed something even weirder.

Her eyes moved. They followed me.

I moved to the left side of my chair. Her eyes still followed me.

This isn't real. It's getting really late, and I'm probably imagining this. I try moving around in different directions and ways. Up, down, around, all different ways. She never stopped following me with her gaze. Ugh. Why am I still seeing this? I went to try something.

I didn't get far, actually, because I noticed something odd about my background as well. My PC's background is normally of the Yuri wall reading CG. But yet, when I saw it...it was gone. My background was just a black screen. But it didn't seem to be blank. I swore I could make out a figure on the screen as well. Based on these recent events...wouldn't the figure be...oh god. I took a closer look and immediately had to back away slowly.

"No, no no no no no…" The figure must have been Yuri with those "real" eyes. When I thought this, the picture seemed to zoom in a little. And...beat? Was this supposed to be like the closet scene? "Ok, I'm not dealing with this right now. Fuck. This." I muttered to myself. I went back to deal with what I was planning on doing.

I left my room, opening a blank Chrome page to hide the window and the background, should anyone walk in for any reason. I went to my bathroom, and splashed some water over my face. Either I need to wake up or I need to go to sleep. But this has piqued my interest. I splash again, and adjust my eyes. I feel more awake now. But will I still see...her eyes moving? I guess I'll find out.

I went back into my room. I closed the tab and reopened the window, making sure to not examine my background further. I'll deal with that later.

It was still happening. She was looking right at me. How is this happening? I know I'm not making this up anymore. But what do I do about it? My camera isn't functioning right now. At least, I wasn't using it. Should I unplug my webcam? Would that make a difference? Or do I see where this goes? I went with the latter.

I sat back down, and when I plant myself, her expression changes back to a smile. It sends a chill down my spine. This is real. I don't know how, but this is real. Should I try saying something more? I decided that was my only option. I could close the window, but now I really want to know where this goes. I extended my mic. It almost seemed like she was looking at me expectantly, waiting for me to speak again. I figured that there was only one thing I could say now.

"Yes. Of course I do."

Another rumble. Louder. Some objects moved from it. I immediately froze and took off my headset. I pressed my ear to the floor to try to discern if the rumble had affected, or even happened, anywhere else. I heard nothing from my family. Everything sounded normal. Could these rumbles somehow only be happening to me? I can't even think straight right now. I sat back down and put my headset on.

In the time I had taken to check that, she had looked away and her face had turned red. That expression. Was I maybe too direct? When I put my headset back on, she turned back towards me and simply had a straight face. She was looking away and down a little, though. Two messages showed up, one about five seconds after the other.

"I-I don't know what to say...other than…" Her eyes snapped back to me, and suddenly sharpened on me.

"Show me."

The next rumble was unbelievably powerful. Sudden crashes went off. Things broke in my room, and fell from shelves. Even my monitor was starting to move. Suddenly there was a loud bang, and my monitor suddenly was shot up and off of my desk!

"AAGH! WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?!"

Those were my last words before my monitor came crashing down on my face at full force.

I couldn't move. I couldn't see anything. Was I knocked out by my monitor? I didn't think it hit that hard, but it must have. I remembered the last thing I saw before my monitor hit me. It was impossible to miss.

Yuri, and her expression had changed to her focused and obsessive stare, plus her crazed grin. Just like the one right before she...committed seppuku...

I then started putting two and two together in my head.

"Wait a minute. She was staring at me somehow. She could hear what I was saying. She changed to that expression RIGHT WHEN my monitor shot off of my desk and hit me in the face, as if she knew I was going to see it. She wanted me to "show her" that I love her...she wanted me… to show her...How else could I do that, unless I was...there...Oh NO! Does this mean that I'm in THAT world now?"

...Why did I jump to that conclusion?

That couldn't be possible. That's just not how it works...right? No...no, no, no. I must be overreacting. That isn't how it works. I'm probably going to wake up in my room sometime later, with a broken computer. Thanks, Dan.

But... why couldn't I see anything? I'm out, and yet I feel awake. I feel like I'm just in some kind of void? Why would this be happening? How could I be knocked out and yet still feel awake? I continued to ponder this for a while, and the possibility of somehow being in the DDLC world just grew inside me. I've read fictuous stories of that happening from the most unlikely of scenarios, but could it be real? What would happen if I actually ended up in that world from this incident? It couldn't be possible, but what if? Would I be forced to see it all again? See their deaths again? Especially...hers?

I didn't have much more time to ponder, as I suddenly had feeling in my arms, and shortly after in general. I could tell that it was bright, wherever I am. I guess it's the moment of truth. Where am I?

I opened my eyes.

What I saw next answered my question. And changed my life forever.
