Summary: He never did like the colour red.

Bloodred thoughts

BY: valkyriecain2110

Warning; angst fic!

He never really liked the colour red. It always reminded him of overconfident gods and their pet pigs. Then worse memories latched themselves onto the insulting colour.

Flashbacks filled his mind. Visions of wounded halfbloods lying in infirmary beds. Friends and strangers alike dying on a scarlet battlefield. A wreath of poppies that he made with the Demeter cabin.

Red was the colour of memories. Red was the colour of blood.

Red was Annabeth's back when they pulled out a dagger meant for him. Red was Luke's arm when he died. Red were the eyes of his friends when they cried for fallen heroes at a solemn funeral lit by fire.

Red was the colour of your life. Red was the colour of your death.

Red was the colour of his mom's face as she held a newborn in her arms. Red was the colour of the face of his first stepfather when he screamed and shouted at his mother. Red was the colour of his mother's face when that same stepfather slapped her.

Red was the colour of anger. Red was the colour of joy.

Red wreathed his house when monsters decided the only way to get to him would be through his family and friends. Red rained down when flames burned down cabins at camp. Red splashed against him when his mother coughed up blood.

Red was the colour of destruction. Red was the colour of death.

Red was his sword when he stabbed his best friend. Red was the sky when the gods voiced their disapproval. Red was the ground when he finally went insane.

Red was the colour of vengeance. Red was the colour of insanity.

Red was his cage. Red was mind. Red was his friend.

Red was the colour he learned to love.

So? What do you guys think? Hate it? Love it? I'll never know if you guys don't review :)

(By the way, if you didn't realize, the person refered to in the story as "he" is Percy.)

I sincerely hope that you all enjoy what I have written. And for the people waiting for me to update my other fics - I'm getting there! I swear it on the River Styx! I'll update before Winter Break.

I just have a disease called Laziness ... it hits even the best of us. But truly, I WILL UPDATE!
