It's night, late at night, and you're on the roof with Jack, and all you can think about is the secret you have.
It's something you've felt for years, wondered bout for moths, and known- really and truly and solidly known- or just a few days.
You have to tell him. You can't tell him.
Because you think you've seen it. Glances that linger just a little too long, quick touches, the smile he gives you… you think it's there.
But if you're wrong. If you're nothing more to him than a friend. You could lose everything. Everything you've had and loved will come crumbling down, and you're not sure you can live without the dreams he shares and the light in his eyes.
He's looking at you now, smiling, having said something you didn't hear, and when you see that look on his face, you know you have to do it. This isn't fair for either of you, him being bright and dreamy and perfect, and well, Jack; and you watching him and following him like a comet's tail. Taking a deep breath, you grit your teeth and spit out the words. "IthinkImightbeinlovewithyou."
Jack stops. "I- what?"
You take a deep breath, counting to ten in your head and reminding yourself again that you can do this. "I think I might be in love with you." You look at the ground, hoping he'll at least be nice about it. Suddenly, his clear blue eyes are an inch from yours and they're bright and laughing and you don't know what's happening but then he's kissing you. You let yourself melt into his embrace, and you're not sure if you're even kissing him back, and it's messy and neither of you knows what to do exactly, but you're kissing him. You're kissing Jack Kelly, and a sudden warmth dances through you, and you pull out of the kiss to look at him for a moment before leaning back in. This time, it's him who pulls out.
"Hey Crutchie?" You're dazed and delighted and this, you think, must be what flying feels like.
"I think I'm in love with you too," he whispers, and he leans in again, and your secret is out and you couldn't care less, because the two of you are flying together.
