You always knew life was full of mystery. Hell, life is one big mystery itself. It's so unpredictable. Life is; people aren't.

You walk around; pacing; debating. Running a hand through your short blonde hair, you allow yourself to utter a frustrated sigh. How is it the one person you can't be with is the one person you want to spend the rest of your life with?

You stop pacing and sit down at your desk. Opening up your laptop, you attempt to try and busy yourself with work; but to no prevail. Your mind keeps wondering; wondering back time him.

Suddenly, there is a knock at your door. You can tell it's him by the way he knocks. Your breath hitches.

Your hear yourself telling him to come in, but you can't seem to remember actually saying it. Closing your laptop, you linking your hands together and rest them on the small computer.

"What can I do for you, sir?" you ask.

You find yourself smirking as he sighs. "I've told you, Carter, not to call me 'sir'."

"Oh, well, why did you just call me Carter? Does this mean you want me to call you O'Neill?"

He smiles that boyish smile; you almost melt on the spot.

"Don't pull that smart crap on me, Sam. It's just not fair."

You smile. "I'm sorry, Jack," you say, putting just a tad bit of emphasis on his first name. He grins. "What do I owe this little visit of yours?"

"Oh, nothing. Just bored of Daniel's little translation babble, so I snuck out. T is still gone though; didn't say when he was gonna get back, so, well, exactly.

"Did Teal'c say he was coming with his son?" you ask.

Jack shook his head. "Nope, just visiting. Which is what I'm doing right now."

You smile. "Obviously."

Jack played it off. Getting up, he smirks. "I'm gonna go somewhere. Don't know where, I'm just gonna go." You laugh. "Do you want to come?"

You ponder his offer a little longer than planned. "I'll go."

He looks taken aback; he obviously didn't think you were going to accept his offer. "Really?"

"Really," you reply, getting up and grabbing your jacket.

"Okay then," he answers, nodding slightly. He walks out of the room as you turn off the lights. Closing the door and making sure it was locked, you join him and walk towards the elevators for what should be a very interesting night, in your opinion.
