It was a one time thing.
But for her, he still lingers.
Every touch, and word hangs in the air around her.
She wants to cry, because her first love is gone.
Gone.
-Never coming back.
"My name is Alfred, I like your glasses!"
It was a dumb, stupid, half-ass-ed hello, but he was 9.
Lizzy looked up at the sky above her, and laughed.
It's so damn funny, because she's not ever going to have him.
She remembers the first time she said, "I think I like you", when they were still so young.
He didn't.
She often teases him, or even smacks him...But she cares. -Even when she throws tea at him, she loves him, plain as day.
Elizabeth Kirkland, now 19, fell in love with a boy named Alfred.
"Alfred hates me",The statement is quick, but true.
She closes her eyes and lets the events of the past few years replay...
"I think we should break up..."
Dear God in heaven, why the hell did she say that. He was holding her heart in his hand, and she just egged him on.
They both knew that it was going to end, and he was enjoying every second of it.
-It was obvious.
When she called him that night, all he said was "fine."
He didn't hear her cry when she realised what she had done.
Little did she know he was staring out his bedroom window thinking,"what the hell just happened."
The screams and tears she muffles with her pillow, don't stop...-She can't make them, hour after hour.
No one in her family bats an eye lash when she comes downstairs the next morning with puffy, big, red eyes.
No one cared.
Somehow, she makes herself move on, even though she's dying inside.
The pain she feels can be described in a simple way, even if it's tearing her apart, just like walking down the street and seeing him with another girl.
Which she does, and of course, she's gorgeous.
Absolutely beautiful,really.
She's not tall or gangley like Lizzy, and she doesn't have dorky glasses. Her hair is long and blond, and she's wearing it down, unlike silly Lizzy, who still wears pig-tails.
The petite girl stifles a giggle as she walks by Lizzy, while Alfred stares at her with vacant eyes.
She wants to run and hide, get anywhere but here, with stupid Natalya and Alfred.
But,she can't move her feet.
And as they grow up, he starts to speak to her again, but he will never love her.
She's never had another boyfriend.
Even the first kiss he wanted so bad from her...-It's still waiting, just for him.
No one notices her anyway, so why should she even try?
Freaky Lizzy, the girl with caterpillar eyebrows.
Somehow, as long as she can escape into her daydreams she's fine.
She'll always have her books.
And paper.
And dreams.
But it's not the same.
At the end of the day, all she wants is someone to pull her away from her family, make her
"friends" care again, and notice her.
But no one notices, and no one cares.
Not even Alfred, who wonders why she hates boys, and refuses to get a boyfriend, and why she won't even let anyone kiss her on the cheek.
This was a quick venting piece.
It's a long story...
