Just a brain-child of mine. There really aren't that many novel length fics in the Eyeshield21 fandom, and this idea has been buzzing around my brain for a while. I seriously doubt I'm going to finish this, but hey, it's summer break so I'll try.

Without further ado, I introduce the prologue!

CHANGE OF FATE – PROLOGUE: THE BEGINNING

Some people believe that the flapping of a butterfly's wing can cause a tornado on the other side of the Earth. The butterfly effect. The chaos theory. It doesn't matter what you call it; it's the same principle. Change one thing, change everything.

"We're moving."

Just like that, Sena's mother destroys weeks worth of carefully made plans, annuls dozens of detailed schedules, and foils months of hard studying.

"N-nani?" Sena stuttered. "But Mom, where am I going to go for high school? I was planning on testing for Deimon like Mamori-neechan…" Sena stared in shock at his mother. What? A new school? A new neighborhood? Having this dropped on him out of the blue really did his fragile emotions no help.

Mrs. Kobayakawa smiled. "Don't worry Sena, I've got it all covered. My future boss lent a helping hand and recommended you to someone on your school's board. You see, normally they don't accept students who haven't tested or don't have a sports scholarship."

"And what school is this...?" Sena felt a chill creeping up his back, making the hairs on the back of his neck stand. He knew that the next words his mom said would change his life, change his future, his entire destiny. Irrevocably.

"Sena, you're going to enter Oujou High School next semester."

He promptly fainted.
