This is the result of sleep deprivation, too much time spent talking to certain people on twitter, and the tail-end of a writing purge. Suffice it to say, I went on a literary killing spree and needed a bit of fluff afterwards.

A Change in Title

"Daniel, I don't think I want you to be my boyfriend any more."

"Wh-what?!" Daniel asked, eyes widening in shock as he looked over at Vala who was very nonchalantly twirling her hair and spinning in a chair.

"I said I don't want you to be my boyfriend any more." She finally looked at him like he was dense.

"Uh, why?" he blinked, trying hard not to panic. She couldn't be saying what he thought she was...could she?

"Well, darling, though you are my friend, you are most certainly not a boy. The term boyfriend sounds rather..." she trailed off, searching for the word.

"Junior High?" he asked, finally breathing again. A small smile lit his lips at her frown of confusion. "Never mind. Okay, if you don't like boyfriend, what would you rather call me?"

"I don't know. Manfriend just sounds weird. Lover sounds quite nice but may be rather risqué, given your prudish Tau'ri culture."

Daniel snorted but remained silent as she continued to spin in her chair, giving serious thought to their apparent problem.

"And partner makes us sound like characters from one of those strange police television shows Cameron is so fond of."

Daniel did laugh at this one, remembering the night Mitchell tried to introduce Vala to Dragnet.

"This is no laughing matter, Daniel." Vala said huffily, finally stopping the chair and turning an angry glare on him. "I need to know what to call you when someone asks."

"I have a suggestion." he grinned as he pulled her off her seat and onto his lap.

"What's that, darling?" she asked, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"How do you feel about the word husband?" Daniel sat back and waited for his words to sink in.

"It's nice but I don't know that it quite fits our-Wait, what? Are you saying...are you asking me..."

"I'm asking you to be my wife. Will you marry me, Vala?"

"Oh, yes, my darling Daniel!" Vala launched herself at him, nearly toppling them over in her exuberance. He gathered her to him, mentally repeating the words husband and wife. Oh, yes, they sounded much better than boyfriend and girlfriend. Much better.
