Aggressive Cuddling

"Steeeel, I have to get out of bed!" He complained. "I'm already late for school!"

"Nnnnooooooooo…. Just skip today, you're always late…" Steel murmured, flopping onto Max's face. "Just stay and cuddle with meeee…"

"Oh my god, you're so needy. Did my Dad have to deal with this?" He muttered under his breath.

I don't think so. Steel said over their link. I was all military and angry back then… at least, that's what I've been told.

You know you can talk out loud? Max muttered. Either way, I like you better now.

Thanks, nerd.

Who're you calling nerd, you nerd?

Can we just go back to sleep? Steel asked.

Ugh…. Thornhill is gonna kill me, but whatever. I'll take a sick day. Max complied. He rolled over, hugging Steel to his chest. Night, Steel.

Goodnight, Max.

Life in the McGrath household would never be the same- after all, the patriarch was back home. They all had to get used to new things- Molly had to get used to putting the toilet seat down in the mornings, and Max had to get accustomed to both his parents being there in the morning.

Like this morning.

Max stumbled out of his room, still half asleep, but seemingly "clothed" in a blue hoodie and jeans. He made his way to the kitchen isle, where his father was sipping on a coffee.

"Morning, Mom…. Dad," he added as an addition. He almost forgot about his father being here. He still wasn't quite used to him being here.

"Good morning, Maxwell," Jim replied. He took another swig of his coffee before setting it down. "Did you get all your homework done last night?"

"Yup. For once, nobody was attacking or anything last night. Max actually got a good night's sleep… and I was awake all night. He makes chainsaws sound quiet, if you get what I'm sayin'," Steel joked.

Max half-heartedly swiped his hand at Steel, lazily sitting down at the table. Molly put a plate of eggs and bacon in front of him, and, being a teenage boy, he tucked in without saying another word.

"Not a morning person, huh?" Jim joked to Molly.

"Well, not when he gets a full night's sleep. Then, he usually just wants to sleep in," Steel interjected.

"Heh. You were never a morning person either," Jim reminisced. The room went quiet, with a slightly awkward air.

"Jim… Do you miss having me? You know, as a friend?" Steel asked awkwardly.

Jim chuckled. "Yeah, I guess. But back in the day, you were dealing with some pretty heavy stuff, and you were, as I've told you before, pretty militant and strict. Now, you're free to be yourself, with none of that baggage dragging you down. I'm happy for you, Steel."

"T-Thanks, Jim."

"Nnngh… can we cut the heavy talk? Oh, crud," Max exclaimed, looking up at the clock, "I'm gonna be late to school!"

"You're always late, Max."

"That's why I didn't want to be late this time! C'mon, I have a study date with Sydney!"

"If you ask me, the poor girl should probably expect it by now."

"Steeeel!"

Okay, I know that there's another series out there called Turbo Shots, which wholeheartedly inspired this fic, but I'm gonna try and keep it as original as possible. It may be hard, and there may be similar ideas for fics, but I'll fill requests if you guys give them!
