CSI Duquesne and CSI Delko
Eric walked into the lab, his mind was racing. Taking prints, analyzing data, interrogating suspects all those things were secondary right now. Calleigh had his attention one hundred percent. She didn't have to say or do anything, all she had to do was be there, actually or not be there, either way she was on his mind twenty four hours a day seven days a week, and that included his dreams (being with her, living a life with her), nightmares (the thought of losing her), crime scenes (victims that could be her, further motivating him to catch the culprits), everything. There wasn't a time she wasn't there. That simple fact blew his mind, he wasn't used to this feeling, but he sure as anything didn't mind it. He could just simply hope she didn't mind it either, he actually hoped she was downright fond of the idea.
"Hey Handsome," The petite southern belle drew him out of his thought process, "ready to go catch the bad guy?"
Hey Handsome ready to go catch the bad guy?? Calleigh are you serious? What is wrong with you, pull it together woman!!
Calleigh cursed herself internally, she still wasn't sure how to react to the news that Eric loved her. She didn't know what to say or what to think, but she was pretty sure "Hey Handsome, Ready to catch the bad guy?" was not the way to go. She had promised to talk to him about them after work, but in the meantime she really had to avoid the cheesy-avoid-awkward-conversation-starters.
" Howdy Partner, Yeah! Let's go catch us some them there bad guys" Eric joked back giving her a playful grin followed by a sweet smile. The specific smile he reserved for her and for her only. Calleigh smiled back, this is Eric, it's always been Eric, Eric the same man who does anything and everything to make me happy, Eric who I trust like no one else Eric, Eric who I almost lost and literally felt my life slip away as his did Eric. There is no need for awkward conversation Calleigh Duquesne, no need what so ever.
"Eric, I have a gun and a badge, and a high enough IQ and legal knowledge to where I could shoot you in the lab, with the cameras around, and STILL make it look like it was an accident, if you EVER make fun of my accent again." Calleigh grinned widely. Eric laughed, she was back, the Calleigh he knew and loved, the one he had worried he'd lost when he confessed how deep his feelings really ran for her.
Eric gave her a serious look and quick salute, "Yes Ma'am!!!"
He relaxed his stance, and just as they were headed for the door he stopped in his tracks, and pulled her into a hug. Calleigh was definitely caught off guard but it only took all of 2.5 seconds for her to fall into his muscular frame, it was a perfect fit. Knowing they both wanted that moment to last forever they relaxed, pushing out the doubts of the conversation awaiting them that evening. It was the start of something more than just CSI: Duquesne and CSI Delko.
