Spoilers: General spoilers up to the middle of season 7

He would've been 37 today.

Let Love clasp Grief lest both be drown'd,
Let darkness keep her raven gloss:
Ah, sweeter to be drunk with loss,
To dance with death, to beat the ground,

Than that the victor Hours should scorn
The long result of love, and boast,
'Behold the man that loved and lost,
But all he was is overworn.' (I. iii 12-16)

- Lord Alfred Tennyson, In Memoriam A.H.H.

In Memoriam

The dawn of Friday the 13th finds him in the Impala, Zeppelin blasting from the stereo (a re-mastered edition because Dean would've wanted it), a case of beer beside him because Dean would've demanded it and Sam never learned to say no.

Lisa finds him there hours later, after dusk has begun to settle, the lake flecked with streaks of fading light like hand-blown glass.

"He would've been 37 today."

She says nothing more, just opens a beer, leans against the hood and stares at the sky, but Sam knows they're wondering the same thing: if he's up there somewhere.

A/N: This might seem a bit OOC, considering all that went down with Lisa and Ben, but I think if something happened to Dean and Sam showed up on their doorstep the way his brother did ages ago, that it would've to sparked some kind of memory for Lisa. Their relationship is not intended to be romantic, rather a companionship of two people who have both lost someone important and are relying on each other for support.
