Why shouldn't he help him? He just like him after all. The others had said not to intervene, that Ouroboros would come and kill him; eat his soul. So what? He had already lost his brother to that monster, what more could he lose?
He had watched as the two shepherds had come back from tending the sheep in the fields, the two laughing as the younger fell after being warned to be careful. He had watched with horror as the pillar of light swallowed the sleepy little town, and as the boy held tight to his sibling's hand; telling him not to let go. It didn't work
He stared with tear filled eyes as the light faded from the newly made chasm, and the dying boy laying there; his brother lost forever.
"Leave him," one of the many celestials said, trying to reason with the young being. "He will die soon anyway."
How could they say that? They were all to scared of the darkness' wrath, and of dying, yet they would not try and save a life?
"Go ahead," a different voice spoke from the crowd. Long, flowing brown hair, soft amber eyes, graceful wings, and a soft smile adorned the angel's face as she looked at the young being, placing a gentle hand on the boy's cheek. "Just know you will not be able to save him forever, he will one day die."
The boy said nothing, simply drinking in the beauty of the girl, before slowly nodding... and suddenly, he was next to the deathly boy. As the celestial tried to look down at his own body, he found he was only a ball of pure red energy; floating above the ground. He looked to the sky to see the angel still smiling at him. "Go, be with him. Help him achieve his destiny."
He smiled as much as a crackling sphere of energy could as he embraced the boy, sinking into his heart.
He had been there the entire time; through every hardship, happy or sad moment, waking and sleeping, everything. From the first time the boy had met the girl who looked so much like the angel, to meeting the flirtatious lady's man, and the young swordswoman. He had tried to warn his host about the angel's fairy companion, but his voice never seemed to reach. He had been surprised when not one, but two beings knew of his existence. He had enjoyed seeing the world through the child's eyes; and now, standing before the place of their meeting, he knew his time here on this world was coming to an end.
"Don't do this!" he wanted to yell as the boy walked toward his brother's grave, looking at it sadly. The boy smiled as he cupped his hand over his heart, willing the spirit inside to come out into the open.
"I guess it's time... I returned what I borrowed."
The celestial screamed for the boy not to do this, but he did not listen. The celestial watched in horror as the boy fell to the earth, a small smile playing at his lips.
"Thank you..."
