Every year at Hogwarts prizes were given to seven students, one from each year, for contribution to the community.

The prize committee was made up of the heads of houses and the headmaster. Throughout the year, students were allowed to nominate as many students as they liked, but were only allowed to nominate any student once. After several years of long letters written by love struck teens, which the committee was loath to read, a format was installed:

To the prize committee,

I would like to nominate _ for contribution to the community.

I nominate them because:

Yours sincerely,

It worked, more or less.

This year the heads of houses were dreading their task more than usual, for Harry Potter had come to Hogwarts, which meant that, at the very least, half the nomination would be nominating him.

At lunchtime, on the first Sunday of the school year, Professor McGonagall collected the letters from the ballots wearily. She really wasn't in the mood for this. There probably weren't even any funny letters! She smiled at the thought of the funny letters. Some of them were truly to be treasured. Sirius Black's nomination of himself in fifth year would never fail to make her smile.

Professor McGonagall sighed, remembering where he was now. How Sirius could have betrayed the Potters

AN: Thank you for reading! This fanfiction is intended to be a joint effort, so if you have a letter you'd like to contribute please use the format above, and leave it as a review or PM me! For starters, Sirius' nomination of himself hasn't been written yet...

This fic will start in Harry's first year and move onward from there, with visits to the funny/ touching letter folders, so anything Marauder era is great too. I can't wait to see what you'll come up with!

Please note:

*If you are writing a letter from Harry's years in school, please tell me what year Harry is in when the the letter was written.

** Every chapter will have an AN detailing who wrote which letter.
