"is there line?" He asks suddenly out loud, he had his feet on his desk, as he was reclined back looking at her empty desk. He closed his eye to seem more casual.
"what line." Sam answers, he's also relaxed in his chair tossing paper into the basketball bin, only looking up at Deeks for moment.
"you know, a line." He looks at Sam, but only sees him shaking his head, "for partners."
At once, Sam sits up, staring intently at Deeks; he should have known, Sam and Callen would be the worst to ask, they are far worse than any brother or father, or even a gruesome mixer of each.
"there is a line." He agrees slowly.
"and that line would be?"
"why do you want to know?" out of nowhere Callen walks in shooting a paper ball and making it into the trash can. Giving Sam a wink, weather that was for the current topic or basket he made, Deeks couldn't tell.
"no reason, just wondering." Deeks shrugs, it's not a complete lie, he was wondering.
Callen just smiles slightly as he strides over to Deeks desk, "there is a line." He says again like Sam, "but it not where you would think it is."
Interested Deeks sits up and brings his feet back to the floor.
"the line is normally drawn so when a brake up happens the work place still runs smoothly, we are already compartmentalized so that doesn't matter much if one person is in two compartments. The line is also drawn so one person doesn't have a need to place the other before the mission, that for us, that is also shit. We are partners, Sam is like my brother to me, and if I try to claim that that doesn't put him higher than someone else, I'm liar. She's your partner, she going to and should mean the most to you on this team."
"whao, what made you think I was talking about Kensi?" He said while putting his hand in a fake surrender.
It was Sam that laughed this time. "Honestly, when your not in the field, you suck at lying, just face it your easy to read."
"alright, I was, and?"
"and what?" Sam asked standing up.
"So where is this line?"
he could see Callen smirk, "lets just say, if you hurt her, then that means you crossed the line, and if you cross the line—"
"you have to answer to us." Sam finished.
Staring at them, Deeks slowly nodded, but was spared from saying anything because at that moment Kensi walked in.
"Moring guys." She smiled and the noticed how both Callen and Sam where standing around Deeks desk very tense while Deeks himself was sitting a little too straight. "am I missing something?"
All of them relaxed at the same time, confirming the fact that she was indeed missing something.
"nope." Callen said, turning to go to his desk, she was going to argue, but a whistle from Eric didn't let her.
In seconds they were all heading up stairs, but as Deeks passed her, she grabbed his hand, "what was going on?"
"they were just laying down the line." She looked at him, slightly confused, "what does that mean?"
Deeks just smiled and continued to make his way up the stairs. Shaking her head she followed him into the computer lab, ready for the next case.
