As I look back on it, we must have shared so much.
But I had never known, while she had always known.
We were both so alone,
Both being swallowed by the darkness that stemmed from others.
And as we part, one thought goes through our minds.
Now, it's their turn to see our darkness.
We continue onward,
Alone, but not alone.
For no matter how far apart, we are always together.
I stare into the night,
I stare into her eyes,
And we disappear together.
Gone,
Like the shadows before the sun.
And that's who we are,
Mere shadows of who we would have been.
Had such pain, anger, and cruelty not come into our lives.
Born to die,
Born to cry,
Together forever in the darkness.
We embrace the evil that I am seen as.
We embrace the blight she is known as.
But, most of all,
We embrace each other.
Gaining the reassurance we need
Simply by the other's presence.
Traitors, they say.
Bastards, we reply.
And smile at the look on their faces as they fall into death.
We fade away,
Fade into the shadows of the night.
Fade into the recesses of memory.
Fade into the darkness of our hearts.
And above all,
We know,
That which fades lasts forever.
