A/N: Man! My ideas pop out in the worst moments, at 11:00 pm when I'm in the middle of doing homework. BTW "how to write and publish a scientific article" is not as fun as it sounds. And the cherry on the top is I have a Traumatology test tomorrow, wish me luck!
Did you know that…?
Gil Grissom, entomologist extraordinaire walks into the kitchen, carrying 2 groceries bags, looking a little bit nervous, that alone was something you almost never got to see.
"Did you know that marriage licenses are the most common form of marriage records in the United States?" He said as he placed the bags on the counter.
"No, but I imagine that there are a lot of those here in Vegas" Sara started unpacking one of the bags.
"Yeah, probably" Gil went back to the car to get another bag.
When he returned most of the groceries were in its place and the fridge door was open, Sara was putting away the vegetables.
"Did you know the age limit for marriage in France was, until recently, 15 for girls, but 18 for boys?" He said.
"I had no idea. Pass me the tomatoes please."
"Well it was; the age for girls was raised to 18 in 2006". He said as he gave her the tomatoes, followed closely by the lettuce and all of the other vegetables.
"Really?" She stood up and started walking out of the kitchen and into the dinning room.
"Yes, and did you know that married people, especially married men have longer life expectances than otherwise single men?" Grissom was following her.
"I can't say I knew that, thanks for sharing". Sara said as she entered the living room.
"You're welcome". He said, giving her a bright smile. "Oh! And also did you know that the groom carries the bride across the threshold to bravely protect her from evil spirits lurking below?"
"Um, no, I knew it was tradition to do it, but I didn't know why" She gave him a smile and sat in the love seat.
"I think is kind of cute, you know, the whole protecting her thing." He said.
"Yeah, it is cute." She said, as she gave him a concerned look, - what's with all the marriage trivia?!-
Do you know why the engagement and wedding rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand?" - Breath, Gil, breath, nothing to be nervous about - He told himself and started walking around the room.
"Um, because it looks pretty? ... I don't… know"
"Well that's because it was once thought that a vein in that finger led directly to the heart" He reached for a little box in his pocket.
"Babe, do you have a point with all of these questions? Because frankly… you're acting weird."
He didn't answer he question, instead he kneeled down in front of her,
"Did you know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you?" he said as he took out the little box.
"Gil…" it was barely a whisper, but it was all she could say at the time.
"And did you know that you would make me the happiest man alive by you marrying me?" He opened the little box, to show a gorgeous engagement ring.
"Sara, would you marry me?" He said as he took out the ring.
"Yes" He slid the ring in her finger.
After a kiss that seemed to last for an eternity they pulled apart. It was Grissom the one that broke the silence.
"Did you know that 'Tie the knot' comes from Roman times, when the bride wore a girdle tied in knots that the groom later untied" He said.
"There are many things I don't know" She said just before she kissed him.
