''See the family of freaks!'' a barker said near a stage. His grin stretched from ear to ear while ten people appeared. The barker glanced over his shoulder. He watched as a seven-year-old boy appeared with his mother.
The pale relatives wore matching uniforms. Both had long black hair and dark eyes.
''Acid Breath and his mother can project acid from their mouths. Acid appears as gas or a liquid and can dissolve anything,'' the barker said.
He removed a coin from his coat pocket. He placed it in front of Acid Breath. After stepping back, he continued to grin while acid emerged from the boy's mouth and caused the coin to dissolve. His eyes settled on the shocked audience.
''There are new additions to the family of freaks. Presenting Thumbskull and Frightwig.''
Two other seven-year-old children appeared at the same time. They wore the same uniforms as Acid Breath and his mother.
Thumbskull's shoulders slumped. Frightwig's hair consisted of prehensile tresses. Her tresses were tipped with orbs as they writhed.
Thumbskull and Frightwig glanced at Acid Breath. They smiled. They were great friends ever since the barker introduced them to one another recently.
The children ran before they were far from the stage. They stopped running.
''What are we going to do?'' Thumbskull asked.
Frightwig grinned. One of her tresses extended and touched Acid Breath's shoulder. ''Tag. You're it,'' she said to her friend.
She laughed as Acid Breath smiled and chased her. Frightwig stopped running when she saw four boys. She viewed every scowl.
''Freaks!'' one of the boys exclaimed.
''Strange hair!'' another boy said to Frightwig before he viewed a scowl on her face.
The boys gasped as soon as Acid Breath's mother appeared. Their eyes widened after she grinned and acid dripped from her mouth.
They turned and ran.
Acid Breath embraced his mother and smiled. ''Thanks,'' he said to her in a sincere tone. He saw his mother's rare smile.
Acid Breath eventually returned to the stage.
Different boys appeared near the freaks. ''Bunch of freaks!'' they exclaimed at the same time. They gasped as soon as Acid Breath's mother grinned again. The children trembled after the woman drooled another time.
Acid Breath and his friends were never bullied again.
