Kamekona was out flying his helicopter over the ocean one night, practicing night flying, when something caught his eye. It was too big to be a bird, but the wrong shape for another helicopter or small plane, and it didn't have lights. Getting closer, he could make out a. . Kamekona rubbed his eyes. He had to be imagining things. No, he hadn't had any drugs, wouldn't do that before flying, and anyway, all he did was pot. He stayed away from the hallucinogens. He shouldn't be seeing things. Maybe he'd fallen asleep. He pinched himself just to be sure. Nope, definitely awake. That meant what he was seeing was real. There really was dragon soaring over the Pacific.

Following as it turned towards shore, Kamekona admired the dragon. About 30 feet long, golden scales covered it, reflecting in the moonlight and off the water. Kamekona wished he had a camera, but it wouldn't capture the full glory. Looking closer, he made out a figure on its bag. Someone was riding the dragon.

Kamekona felt a stab of envy. He loved flying, loved being in his helicopter, flying low over mountains and jungles and the water, but he was still in an enclosed space, couldn't fly very high, and wasn't very maneuverable. Oh, to be able to feel the wind rushing by, to dive towards the water and pull up, to soar as high as he wanted! He must be a marvelous feeling.

Continuing to follow the dragon and its passenger, Kamekona watched it land on a deserted stretch of beach. It looked vaguely familiar. Observing his surroundings, Kamekona realized he was right be Steve McGarrett's. That was odd. What was a dragon doing landing on Steve's beach? Could the passenger have been Steve?

Flying lower, Kamekona saw two figures on the beach. One, he noticed, was indeed Steve McGarrett. The other was his partner, Danny Williams. There was no dragon in sight. Kamekona was mystified. He was sure he had only seen one passenger, and he couldn't fathom where the dragon had disappeared to. He would have seen it take off again. As Kamekona pondered the puzzle, he remembered legends he'd heard of dragons who could morph into human form. That left only one possible explanation. Danny was a dragon. Interesting.

As Kamekona watched, the two figures waved up at him. They must have seen him following and recognized him. Waggling the copter from side to side in greeting, Kamekona turned towards home. He'd seen enough for one night.
