Hi. So here's another idea that came to me a while ago. Hope you like it.
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural.
Sam is frantic. Trying to reach his brother who just kneels there, as if in shock or as if he is not even really there. Claire buries her head in the shoulder of Castiel. Strange that she would turn to him, but he had just saved her. From what she didn't feel ready to think about, but what was effecting her now was what she had seen when she had come into the room. They were dead, all of them, and not just dead but massacred. How could someone do that to another human? She never knew Dean but she remembered what Castiel thought of him. When he had possessed her she saw all that he had and she had seen what he had seen, and felt what he had felt. She knew that the other angels had tried to reprogram him but what they and probably Castiel as well, never realised was that you couldn't reprogram the feelings the angel had for the righteous man. She never really understood them when she was young, but thinking back now she knew that what the angel felt for the human was love, in its purest form. But how could he love someone who would do this? Had Dean changed so much in the last 7 years that he was no longer recognisable as the soul Castiel had pulled from hell? Had Castiel realised the difference? Did he understand? Was there any of the righteous man still left inside of the shell she saw kneeling on the floor? These where questions she couldn't answer. All she wanted was to be safe again. To feel the love of her family. But that was denied her. Her father was in heaven, and her mother was god knows where. That sentence made a sinical smile appear on her face cos she was sure that god did know, he just wasn't in the sharing mood.
With these thoughts going round her head she felt herself being removed from the room. She smelt the fresh air of outside and realised for the first time that the smell from that room was vile, it made her want to be sick but she refused to do so. She was a strong independent woman and she would not show weakness in front of an angel of the lord. Instead she raised her head from Castiel's shoulder and pushed away from him. She could do this, she could cope alone.
"Claire" Castiel said In a world weary voice she had never heard from the angel, or thought he could have. she had hated him for so long, he was the reason she was alone in this world without her father or her mother. But now all she could see was what had happened in that room and realised that Castiel had his own problems. She may not know or like the Winchesters but she did know they where Castiel's family. And they where falling apart.
"Claire." He said again, making her turn and look at him.
"What?" she replied more harshly than she intended but everything that had happened was just too much and she needed to take it out on someone and he was the reason for it all.
"I need to go with Sam and…help Dean." After this statement there was silence, of course he would go with Dean freaking Winchester, he always chose him didn't he (she had read the Supernatural books after her brief stint as an angel vessel, she knew he always choose Dean).
"fine Castiel, I'll be fine." She replied straightening her spine. She would be fine on her own, she didn't need looking after, she was sixteen for gods sake. She. would. be. fine.
"Claire, I do not want to leave you alone." Castiel responded. He didn't know what he was trying to do but he knew he needed to do something. It was why he had found her after all. To do something to help her.
"I have been alone for a long time Castiel. I don't need you looking out for me all of a sudden out of some misguided need to relieve your guilt. I am fine." And with that she turned to go. Only to find that Castiel had grabbed her arm in an unbreakable grip. "Let me go." She shouted at him as she struggled to find a release.
"No. not until you tell me where you are going. I have been alone Claire, on the streets and I won't let that happen to you." Came the gravelly response. His words made her pause. Why had an angel been alone on the streets? Why had Castiel been alone on the streets? And though the two questions seemed the same she knew they were not. An angel had heaven as his home and Castiel had the Winchesters as his family, so why was he alone?
"I understand your wish to leave here, and I will do everything I can to help you. Please tell me what I can do?" Castiel said when he noticed she had stopped struggling.
"leave Dean to Sam and find my mom." Came Claire's quite response, she knew he would never do it and if given the choice he would choose Dean and let her go. But a small part of her, the part that still saw her father when she looked at him hoped he would choose her.
"I can not do that Claire. I am sorry." Came the angels reply as he hung his head defeated. His grip on her arm had loosened so she pulled it out. Ready to march away into the night.
"You could come with us if you wish. I am sure that Sam would be able to find your mother." He said making her turn to him with an incredulous look on her face. "You want me to come with you and a mass murder? Are you insane?" she screeched. Castiel tilted his head at her, taking her question seriously, had she not been in shock she would have laughed.
"Dean is not a mass murder Claire. And if he ever raised his hand to you I would protect you. On that you have my word." Castiel said seriously to her causing a bark of humourless laughter to escape her mouth.
"Yeah right." she said sarcastically.
"I will not break my word this time I give Claire. I would kill Dean before I let him hurt you." Castiel replied with a look in his eyes that made her believe he spoke the truth.
"Why?" she asked incredulously.
"Because he would never forgive himself or me if I let him do that." That answer alone made her believe him. He didn't say some crap about caring about her, no it was all about caring for Dean and Deans feelings, that she could believe. After all who was she next to the man he loved?
"Okay, I'll come with you. But only on the promise you'll help me find my mom." She replied.
"I promise." The angel said as if it was a solemn vow.
