A/N Hello guys, LadiJ here with a special new story for a special friend. So today Feb. 25th is a very special day, because it is the day that my friend Zeejack was brought into this world! I am so honored that I have become really good friends with you, and have been blessed to write with you as well. You are so talented, and I can't say that enough! I was asked by my friend to write her a short Samcedes story as a birthday present, and there was no way I could say no. When I started writing, I was nervous to put my work out there, and some days was ready to quit, but I would always get such kind words from Zee that kept me going, and gave me life. I told you this before, that I used to look forward to seeing your reviews of my updates, because if you didn't review, I took it as the chapter sucked! (LOL) As much as I loved all the reviews I got, and I did, your just stuck out to me. And when we started writing together, it was like a dream team! I had so much fun writing No Need To Run with you, and it was amazing seeing you blossom as such a talented writer. Thank you for being such a great friend to me, and thank you for putting me on to Texas Pecan Brittle...even if it makes my teeth hurt, I am still go eat it! (Lol) I hope you like this story, and it is everything you asked for. I am going to post a update every week I promise! And this is going to be 5 chapters...hopefully! (We all know some of my stories have a mind of it's own) I want to send out a special thank you to my wonderful Beta, writing partner, and friend Rose for going over this story and making it readable! So enough from me, I am going to let you read now...HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZEEJACK!

***DISCLAIMER*** I do not own Glee, nor do I want too. Also my beta and I are only human, so please excuse any mistakes!

Mercedes was behind the counter at Regal Drugstore. School was getting ready to start back up, and her parents wanted her to solely focus on her studies for her senior year, so in two weeks she was leaving. Today was a typical day at the store, a few customers coming in here and there, nothing too exciting. She looked up when she heard the bell on the door ding, alerting her that someone was coming in.

"Welcome to Regal's!" She excitedly said without turning around. She was busy stocking the shelf behind her, so she didn't notice the tall blonde guy standing behind her, trying to get her attention.

Sam walked into the drugstore to pick up a few things he needed for football tryouts. He had only been in Lima for a couple of weeks, and he found out about football tryouts at his new school, McKinley High, and knew he wanted to try out and have something to do this school year, and hopefully make a few good friends along the way. He was standing at the counter to try to get some help in finding the ace bandages and a knee brace. He watched as a short, curvy woman stocked the shelf and not even notice he was standing there. He let his eyes roam over her body, and checking her out. He was a guy so, yeah he checked her out quite a bit. Wow, that ass is a site to behold. I don't know what she looks like, but that ass is a 10! He was so wrapped up looking at her ass, he didn't even notice when she turned around.

Mercedes could feel eyes on her, and she whipped her head around to see this tall, good looking blonde guy standing there staring at her. She cleared her throat, and raised her eyebrow, "Um...can I help you?" Damn, who is this? I know I have never seen him around here before, you can't forget a face like that, or should I say lips! She had to stop herself from licking her lips.

Sam snapped out of his haze, and was a little embarrassed that he had gotten caught. "Oh, um… I-I was just looking for um…." All of Sam's thoughts left his brain, he didn't even remember what he came in for. He took a deep breath to collect his thoughts, "I was hoping you could tell me where I could find an ace bandage and a knee brace?" Damn her face is just as beautiful as her ass….I have got to get to know this girl.

Mercedes put her hands on her hips, because she couldn't believe that this guy was actually checking her out, and tried to play it off like he wasn't. She had to tamp down her diva-tude and do her job, so she put on her professional smile on, "Sure sir, they will be in aisle 5." I can't believe he was really checking me out right now, but hell I am now checking him out, so I guess we are even.

Sam scrunched his face, "Sir… that makes me sound old, please call me Sam, and what can I call you?" Can I call you mine?

Mercedes tilted her head, "Why would you want to call me anything? I mean I told you where the items you were looking for were, so we're done talking right?" She didn't know where all this hostility was coming from, but she was not giving this guy a break.

Sam laughed at how feisty this girl was, he actually thought it was cute, because he could tell that is was a defense mechanism. He leaned up on the counter, "Nope, not right!" He smirked, "I would like to talk to the person that helped me out, and if I'm not mistaken, they say the customer is always right so, are you going to tell me your name?" Sam was not going to let up with his need to get to know this girl.

Mercedes could not believe the brashness of this guy, she knew he had to be new in town, because apparently he didn't know who Mercedes Jones was. She was known around town for her diva attitude, and her diva fits that she was known to throw at a moment's notice. This guy is fine, and he is bold as hell, but I like that. I wonder how bold he is in...Wait Mercedes, stop acting like a horny toad! She decided to see if she was right about her theory, "You're new here huh Sam?"

Sam folded his arms and gave her a sly smile, "What makes you say that?"

"Because, you have the audacity to come in here, stare at my ass, and expect me to be nice to you. It's obvious you don't know me, or my reputation around here, or you would not be so cocky right now."

Sam was not buying her act at all, he could see right through that attitude. One thing he was really good at was reading people, and he could read her like a book. She was the type that tried to act tough, and if you didn't take the time to get to know her, you would believe the act she put on. Sam was intrigued by this girl, and he was going to make it his business to see what was beyond those walls she built. "You call it cocky, I call it interested in the person standing before me. I just want to know your name, I'm not asking you to marry me and bear my children." Although the thought of marrying her is not freaking me out, especially if i would be able to be all up on that ass!

Mercedes was speechless right then, this guy was not backing down like other guys would. She knew how to get an unwanted suitor away from her, but this Sam guy was different, which actually impressed her…a little. She could have just told him her name, but where was the fun in that. "So why are you so interested in me Sam?"

"Why not?" Sam answered as he shrugged his shoulders, "The better question is why won't you just tell me your name? I mean, it's not fair that you can call me by my name, and I can't do the same."

This guy is something else….not to mention he was kinda cute. Oh hell, who am I kidding, this guy is hot! Mercedes sighed, "Fine, if I tell you my name, will you get your things and go? I mean, I do have work to do." She was still trying to keep up the facade, but she had to admit, this was the most exciting thing that has happened all summer since she started working there.

Sam shook his head, "Well, I don't know, you would have to give me your name first, so I can see how I will react." He leaned on the counter again, inches from her face, "So tell me, what's your name?"

Mercedes could smell the mint that was exuding from his mouth. Why is he so close to me...damn! He needs to back up a little bit, because he is too cute to be this close to me. And those lips….damn! She had to step back and get a little distance between them, "My name is Mercedes."

Sam smiled, he could see that she was a bit uncomfortable, and that her walls was starting to crack, "Mercedes huh? That's a unique name, but very pretty." He extended his hand to her, "It's nice to meet you, Mercedes."

She smiled and laughed, "It's nice to meet you too, Sam." She shook his hand and they stood there for a minute, just shaking hands. She could feel something between them, but she was not going to dwell on it, so she pulled away. "So, your items you asked about are in aisle 5, I didn't want you to forget."

Sam could not deny the feeling he felt when he shook her hand, and he knew she felt it too, that was why he pulled away, or at least what he thought he had done. "Oh, I didn't forget, steel trap." He pointed to his head, "I guess I better get them then, I'll be right back, Mercedes." He shot her a wink and ran to get the things he needed.

Mercedes could not believe the cockiness of this guy, but she did find him intriguing, and very cute. She didn't know what it was about him that made her actually want to talk to him more, but she did. She was actually waiting on him to come back so she could check him out. She tried to hide the smile that was creeping on her face when she saw him walking towards her, but she failed miserable. She took the items he had in his basket out on the counter, "Will this be all?"

Sam made quick work of grabbing the things he needed so he could continue his conversation with Mercedes. He smiled, "Yes, this is it."

Mercedes looked at all he had, "Wow, you are either an athlete, or very accident prone." She laughed, and continued checking him out.

Sam smiled, "That's very observant of you Mercedes, I am actually an athlete. I'm trying out for the football team at McKinley. You were right about me being new here, so I wanted to do something to keep me busy, and maybe meet a few good friends around here."

Mercedes heart sunk hearing that, she went to McKinley, and she knew how things operated there. The Jocks had their own little world, and people like her never belonged in it. She knew the Sam she met was not going to be the same Sam after he got into the Jock's circle. Sure, there were a few people from that crew that joined Glee Club and she considered them friends, but she didn't know what Sam was about. Because if he was there to become popular, being seen with her was not going to help at all. She finished ringing him up, "Your total is $12.45." Her tone was flat, and she knew she was building up her walls again. She was not going to even think about Sam, because she would rather not have the sting of dealing with it later.

Sam sensed the change in her demeanor and he wondered what happened. He pulled out his wallet and gave her the money. "Mercedes, are you alright?"

She took the money and smiled, "Yes, I'm fine, Sam." She gave him his change, and his bag, "Have a nice day, and thank you for shopping at Regal's, please come again."

"Why do I feel like I am being rushed out of here?" Sam was confused by her, one minute she was fine and smiling, and the next minute, she was basically pushing him out of the store. "Can I at least get your number?"

Mercedes looked stunned at Sam's request, "You seriously want my number?"

"Yes, I asked didn't I?" Sam asked, with that cocky ass grin on his face.

Mercedes thought about it for a minute. Why not give it to him, I mean he is just going to stop calling when school starts. "Sure, you want my number, I'll give it to you."

Sam smiled so bright, he wanted to jump up and do a fist pump, but he maintained his cool, he didn't want her to think he was a super dork. "I'm glad." He handed her his phone and watched her punch her information in. She handed it back to him, and he quickly turned on the camera, "I need a face identification, smile!" He snapped a picture of Mercedes.

"You did not just take a picture, I was not even ready yet!" Mercedes protested, "You need to take another one?"

Sam smiled, because she did look like a deer in headlights in the other picture, "Okay fine, I will take another one, now smile." She posed for the picture and he got the one he wanted, "Great, I got it!" He locked it in and dialed the number.

Mercedes looked down when she felt her phone vibrate, "You had to call me now?"

"I wanted to make sure you had my number, just in case you ever wanted to call me sometimes."

Mercedes smiled, "Okay, I got it now, but I too am going to need face Identification." Sam quickly struck his blue steel pose, and she snapped the picture. "You are a mess Sam, but I like the picture, so I am going to use it."

He smirked, "I'm glad you like it." He looked at the time, he had spent way too long in this store, and he knew his parents were probably wondering where he was. "I have to go, but I will definitely be call you Mercedes, and feel free to call me as well." He gave her a wave and headed towards the door, "See you around, Mercedes."

She smiled and waved as he was leaving. She knew there was a clock running on his friendship since school was starting in a few weeks. Mercedes sighed, "I'm just going to enjoy the moment while it lasts." She looked down at Sam's picture and smiled, today turned out better than she ever imagined. She went back to stocking the shelves with a smile on her face, and a certain blonde on her brain.

X~X~X~X~X~X~X~X~X~X~X~

It was the first day of school, and Mercedes had mixed emotions about walking back into McKinley High. She was excited to be a senior, and one step closer to being done with high school, and getting out of Lima. On the other hand, she dreaded going back to be subject to the same foolishness that high school had to offer. Cliques, popularity wars, and bullying was a staple at McKinley, and she was usually the target. Another reason she was not ready for school to start, because she and Sam had been talking and texting non-stop since that first day they met at the store. He was such a nice guy, and different from all the guys in Lima, and she was not ready to lose him, but she knew the minute Sam got there and got involved with all the other kids he got more things in common with, she knew he was going to spend less and less time talking to her. She had been trying to not get wrapped up in Sam Evans, but it was not working, because he was so sweet, and hilarious, he constantly kept her laughing. She pulled up in front of the school, and took a deep breath, "Well, here goes nothing." She got out of her car, and held her head up high and walked into McKinley with confidence in her walk. She walked to her locker and was going to put her things away. She felt someone tap her on her shoulder, and when she turned around and was met with the green eyes of the guy she couldn't stop thinking about. Sam was standing right in front of her. "Hey, Sam."

Sam had been so excited to start his first day of school, and to go and see Mercedes again. Sure, they talked a lot over the phone since their first meeting, but he hadn't seen her since then. He looked forward to their conversations every day, and they would talk for hours. She was so funny, and always kept him on his toes, which he loved. When he walked into school, he scanned the hallways until he saw who he was looking for, a smile crept onto his face, as he walked toward the person he'd been thinking about everyday since he met her. He walked over to her and tapped her on the shoulder, and smiled bright, "Hey Mercedes, how are you?" Still as pretty as I remember.

She turned around and were met with those green eyes that appeared nightly in her dreams ever since their first meeting, she had to quickly get herself together, damn, he got even cuter since the last time I saw him, how is that possible! "I'm good, how about you? Do you like McKinley so far?" She asked.

He shrugged his shoulders, "Well, since I just got here, I'll say so far so good." He chuckled, "I'm still trying to get to know my way around here, maybe you can be my tour guide?"

Mercedes smiled, "Sure Sam, I can show you around, it's not that big, so I'm sure but the end of the week you'll be a pro around here." She gently patted his arm and smiled, wow, his arms feel amazing...I bet they would feel good wrapped around me...stay focused Mercedes! "Who do you have for homeroom?"

Sam pulled out his schedule, "Um, Mr. Jacobs." Why does she have to smile at me like that? She has no idea how much I think about that smile.

Mercedes smiled, "So do I." Yes! I get to see his sexy ass every morning! Doing my happy dance!

"Oh cool, so I get to see you every morning as soon as I get here, life is good." He smirked at her. Sam Evans, for the fucking win!

She blushed, and dropped her head. As happy as she was on the inside, she had to play it cool on the outside. "Boy please, you know you are not thinking about me." Like I am thinking about you!

"And how do you know what I'm thinking about? Are you in my head now, Miss Jones?" You have no idea how much I think about you...I'm so glad you are not in my head, because the thoughts I have about you, are reserved for porn videos.

"No, but I know I am not on your brain first thing in the morning, Mr. Evans." She couldn't even try to process the thought of Sam thinking about her more than a friend. It was not how things went in her life, she was always the friend to guys, never the one they wanted to date.

"Oh, so you just know me so well huh?" He folded his arms, and was a bit annoyed that she didn't even think it was possible for him to actually want her. "So, tell me why I did I come here specifically looking for you this morning?"

She closed her locker and turned back to look at him, looking him intently in the eyes, "Because you don't know anybody else but me." She started to walk away with a smile on her face. Why is he doing this to me? I already know how this story is going to end, but if he insists on hanging around me, I am going to have fun while it last. She turned around and looked at him, "So are you coming? You don't want to be late for homeroom." She walked away and made sure she put a little extra swish in her walk. She knew he was going to be staring at her ass, so she was going to give him something to look at.

Sam stood there for a minute, and definitely took in her ass before he ran to catch up with her. Damn that woman! "Mercedes Jones, you don't know everything, and one day you are going to realize that I am not your average guy."

They walked in class, and Sam made sure he sat right next to Mercedes, and he flashed her a smile. They couldn't say anything, because Mr. Jacobs was welcoming everyone back, and then the announcements came on. Sam was staring at Mercedes very intently, and she was blushing under his stare.

Would he stop looking at me like that! I swear he is too sexy for words….

She looked over at a group of girls sitting across from them, and they were clearly gawking at Sam, and that annoyed her. She motioned for him to check out his fan club.

And here comes the beginning of the end of his infatuation with me….

He turned around and saw the girls looking at him, they started giggling and waving at him. He was polite and waved back, but he quickly turned back to Mercedes and rolled his eyes, and shook his head no.

Oh great, mindless, bubble heads….not at all interested. They suffer from NoAssAtAll Syndrome. Sam Evans has a particular type, and that is not it.

Mercedes was stunned by his reaction, because those girls were pretty, and some were even cheerleaders, and any guy would love to have them drooling over him, but for some reason Sam was not the least bit interested. The bell rang and everyone dispersed and headed to their first period class, Sam grabbed her arm to stop her before she left.

"Hey Mercedes, what class are you headed to ?"

Mercedes felt a tingle shoot up her arm when he touched her, she looked at her schedule, "History."

Sam smiled bright, "I have history too, I guess we have yet another class together. I must be one lucky guy." Sam Evans for the fucking win again! I swear I am on fire today. Somebody must really like me!

Mercedes put her hands on her hips, yes, yes, yes! "Are you serious right now? How do we have so many of the same classes?" She grabbed his schedule and looked at it. A small smile crept on her face, "Um… You do have history next…" Damn!

He nodded, "I know that, and so do you."

"Yeah I do, but you have Mrs. Foster, and I have Mr. Roberts."

Sam took her schedule, "What! Damn, that just ruined my mood." Such a cruel joke!

Mercedes laughed, and pulled Sam by his shirt collar, "Boy, come on, our classes are across the hall, so I can show you where it is."

They walked down the hall, to their class. Sam got a few admirers looking at him along the way, and Mercedes kept rolling her eyes, while Sam was oblivious to all of them, he was too busy looking at Mercedes. Once they made it to class, Mercedes stopped at the door. "Here we are."

Sam nodded, "Here we are...hey, Mercedes, can you do me a favor." He was so nervous, but he didn't want her to see that.

"What's that?" She asked, she was clueless to what he wanted, and that freaked her out just a little bit. She bit her bottom lip in anticipation to what he was about to say.

"Wait for me after class." Please say yes, please say yes.

She nodded, "I can do that, is there something you needed?" Just say you need me, and life would be perfect.

"I just want to walk you to your next class, that's all." He said with a smile on his face. I'm trying to mack you down woman, just take the bait, and let me reel you in!

Mercedes furrowed her brow, "Why would you want to do that? I mean your class could be on the other side of the building." OMG! OMG! OMG!

Sam shrugged his shoulders, "It doesn't matter, I still want to walk you to your class, so will you wait for me?" He gave her his best puppy dog eyes, "Please." The puppy dog eyes gotta work, it is my go to move!

Panty Dropper Alert! This boy is going to kill me, them damn puppy dog eyes! Mercedes giggled, "Yes Sam, I will wait for you." She shook her head, "You are so silly."

Sam laughed, "You know you like it." Damn sure hope you like it! The warning bell rang, and they both knew they had to go. Sam brushed a lock of Mercedes hair out of her face. "I'll see you after class, Mercedes." He smirked and backed into his class.

Mercedes smiled, and trembled when his fingers slightly grazed her forehead, I am in trouble….but luckily I like trouble. She took a step back, "You sure will Sam, see you after class." She turned and walked into class and took her seat. She tried to focus on history, but her mind was only on a green eyed boy that she knew was going to turn her world upside down, and she was ready for the ride.

A/N So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed it. I will see you guys next week! Happy Birthday Zee!
